So then who's getting the axe in summer? - And who will arrive?

John i think you are right about his ability and about the fact that as we have nothing going on in attack at the moment he still deserves a chance.
I was shocked that he wasn't even sub yesterday, and it just underlined the fact that Rafa does not rate or trust him at all.
Fulham at home are there for the taking...but so were Birmingham and Charlton, i really hope he starts Fowler and Cisse, Luis will probably play wide right as Alonso is suspended so stevie will be back in the centre.
I would love to see Anderson getting half hour though, especially if we are leading.

as for players leaving, everyone knows who they will be. cisse, morientes, dudek, traore to name but four.

Would love to see Defoe at Liverpool he is a top striker that would score goals.
Your post seemed to hint at some inside info St mike

From my understanding (my cousin is a Spurs season ticket holder) the main reason Defoe doesn't get in the team at Spurs is his attitude. He's apparently a selfish little pr#ck, who although being far and away their best natural finisher they have, a) doesn't have too much else to his game, and b) is an arrogant moaning tw@t who throws water bottles around when he's substituted, on one occasion right at Martin Jol.

I actually have this on good authority for once. He's well on his way out of Tottenham, and wont be missed from what I've been told. If we don't go in for him, you can bet your botton dollar that Manure will probably be sniffing around him, especially with Van Horseface almost certainly on his way out.

i'd like defoe to join us, i mean his goalscoring ability is sound but if his attitude stinks like u suggest st mike then i dont think rafa would tolerate it and another cisse situation would be on the cards.

Traore, Cisse, Morientes, Le Tallec, Diao, Cheyrou, Kirkland, Dudek, Mellor, will most likely leave and I wouldn't be sad to see them go either.

Fowler I think will stay for another season because he will improve his fitness and also because he brings so much more to the team other than his playing skills.

I don't understand those advocating getting rid of Garcia, despite the fact that he's probably the most frustrating player I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt.

Garcia has to stay. He's scored 9 goals in a season where he's hardly played due to injury problems in the past few months. He scored 13 last season and contributed a lot in Europe [He also scored 8 goals in the Premiership].

He's an impact player, a match-winner and I would be disappointed to see him leave.

The main reason Defoe is not playing is because he wasn’t scoring goals when he was playing regularly, Spurs had Robbie Keane on the bench, a good goal scorer, so they swapped them, Keane has been scoring goals regularly so he has stayed in the team. Defoe is not the sort of person you have made out Mike. He is actually a very down to earth and humble guy and is very hard working. Jol wants to play a 4-3-3 next year like Chelsea do, so Defoe is likely to leave.

I personally don’t want to see Defoe come, he is too limited in his play and defenders are finding it way to easy to read him.

Out for definate should be: (with reasons)

1. Morientes for £2m (he left his form at Monaco, poor strike Ratio, not quick enough, does not get into scoring positions frequently, off the pace in prem, misses crucial sitters)

2. Cisse for £7m (finishing touch is awful, no vision, misses sitters, poor goal ratio)

3. Harry Kewell £1m ( Bottles out of challenges, rarely beats defenders, not strong enough, or has enough fight in him, has no impact, esp in big games, apart from crosses he offers little)

4. Dudek and Kirkland £2m each (neither are first choice keeper and are out of favour at Anfield)

5. djimi traore £1m (out of favour, makes schoolboy errors, not solid enough)

6. Le tallec £ a plate of scouse. (zero ability)

Borderline (but should stay for at least one more season):

Crouch, Fowler, Pongolle, Mellor, Hamann (due to his contract)
Hyypia (his age, and lack of pace)

Then we should bid for the following to strenghthen the squad my way

1. Ronaldo. (if Rumours are true would be good, cause he CAN find the net)

2. Possible Simao for the right wing.

3. Michael Owen

4. David Beckham for the right wing, but only a two year contract.

6. Juninhio from Lyon.

7. Maybe Damien Duff to replace kewell, more effective.

8. Thierry Henry. (If Arsenal dont finish top 4 and get knocked out of the CL, then we ought to put in a bid of 15-20m. ok we might not get him, but if you dont ask, you dont get. the impact on LFC would be immense and dramatic)

9. Messi and Ronaldhinio from Barca. (well if steve morgan gets his 70m accepted. why not.)

the last one was obviously a joke, but beleive me those are the kind of players we need to win the CL again or to match chelsea's standards at the top.

How many Champions Leagues have Chelsea, Ronnie and Messi won?

None I suppose, but its the "quality" of play that they can offer, that can bring success.

you may well find that come may, Ronnie and Messie will have one medal each.

its not out of the question us, buying Ronaldhino. we need to think big. and Parry should start laying 25/ 30 m on the table for one player alone who can make all the difference.

I'm late to this topic, so apologies if this has already been covered.

In terms of value for money, I'd prefer us to go for Robbie Keane than Defoe. Probably about a third of the price, but a lot of striker for it. He's had his injury problems, but if people want to bang the drum for Owen given his medical records, they can get over it really. That said, I'd still prefer us to go for Yakubu than Keane.

As for those to be moved on...

Kirkland
Dudek
Traore
Morientes
Cisse
All currently loaned out players except Carson and Pongolle
