I know I've been one of Kuyt's biggest critics but I think it's justified. He's not up to Liverpool.

You cannot fault his work rate but his first touch is quite possibly the worst I've seen for a while.

I don't know if it's Rafa's tactics but he seems to think that he is a midfielder at times because of how deep he drops and sometimes ends up on the right wing - like on sunday for example.

Maybe we should all get off his back. After all, his dad died over summer and that will be affecting him. Don't forget we all let Gerrard off last season for poor performances after speculation regarding his family.

I'd put Kuyt in the reserves for a bit and let him get a few goals, then bring him back into the team when his confidence is better.

With Torres injured though we don't have many options. Voronin shouldn't be allowed near the club so maybe Babel in centre roll (he has done little on the wing to impress and many here say centre is his natural position).

I don't think his dad dying makes any difference, I'd a parent die but was still back in work next week and had a job that took a lot of concentration - it doesn't make you physically slow, take away your first touch, take away a strikers instinct etc.

TERRIBLE,TERRIBLE business by Benitez.

I did say in the summer, he was a very very avrage and light weight striker, not worth £10 Million that we have paid for him!!!!!!. and just look at him now, he is absolute :censored:, and if LFC trys to get rid of him he will not fetch £4-3 Million. LFC had lost a great deal of money since Houllier and that still gos on under Benitez, they both could spent £300 Million or so they both will never produce a winning title team!!!

Kuyt should be dropped totally, his work rate is very and always wastefull, no end product.

Did you have 40000 people screming you're shit at you when you went back to work? ???

Losing a close relative does lower your confidence though. No one is saying his dad dying is the sole reason for his form but it could have been the catalyst. His confidence dipped and he began avoiding goal-scoring positions.

Confidence also affects your speed, isn't the famous saying "the first 5 yards are in your head". Anyone who has played up front at any level can tell you it's much easier when you're confident. Lose that confidence and it gets increasingly difficult to score.

His first touch is always slated on here:

He's got the worst "first touch" in the Premiership.

and yet I've seen him control balls perfectly well on numerous occasions. I've also seen other players (Torres, Crouch, Gerrard...any footballer you can name) miscontrol simple passes. The anit-kuyt brigade look for faults. If he makes a mistake it's because he's shit, if he does well it's a fluke.

He is very hardworking, but too often he's chasing down a ball that he lost in the first place.

Don't forget that Kuyts dad was ill with cancer for quite some time before he died.

I still don't understand how supporters of our beloved club and scream things like "You are :censored:" against someone that gives his all. It's one thing if the player has skills but don't utilize it and runs around the field doing :censored: all while we are loosing or behaves like a complete asshat.

Dirk Kuyt would be on the team sheet for me every week alongside Torres.  He will be 1st to say hs been shiiiiit.

Dirk is a ten million pound player, he performs like that aswell.  Hes not a Drogba, Rooney or a Torres.  He was 10 million pounds, intill we pay more for another striker he will be the next best we will have.

We have got Crouch who has one better attribute than Kuyt.  And thats his first touch.  Other than that Kuyt is much better.   People who say CRouch scores more than Kuyt lol Remmember back to Crouch's goal shy spell. Went on much longer than Kuyts.

So for me intill we break the bank for another forward Kuyt will be the next best.

Adebayor didnt cost £10 mil.  Kuyt is not a £10 mil player at all and we would struggle to get £6 mil now.
