Kuyt is one of the hardest working players in the league and has earned great respect from the fans.  He just can't buy a goal at the minute and I believe that Rafa's tactics certainly play a part in his drought.  How on earth does Rafa expect him to get into goal scoring positions when he has him playing so deep or out wide.

Sorry but that is cr@p, in the match yesterday he himself was constantly running into wrong positions, he is a hideously bad striker and I think an extra option on this poll should be "mercy killing". He just seems to amaze me every match by getting worse and worse, if we had had a decent second striker yesterday then we would have won the match. What is it Rafa sees in Kuyt that no one else in the whole world sees, some fecking genius Rafa is, and then he goes and takes off Babel and puts on Pennant. Babel had a good game and if he had been played as the second striker we would have pushed Chelsea even more, even out on the wing he was creating plenty.

The chance where gerrard rolled the ball into kuyts feet and then ashley cole tucked in behind was wasted by Kuyt.  His 1st touch was the problem as let the ball run away from him and that allowed cole to do what he did.  Kuyt worlds v v hard but that cannot and should not be enough to play for LFC.  Rafa loves him though.

Feel dead sorry for him but he is an important part of the team, I think its time for us to forget he is a striker rather a player that does all the dirty work.

Running your socks off doesn't mean you played well. He has no goals in him.

Tries his best so nothing personal but he is nowhere near good enough for LFC. Must be sold in the Summer for whatever we can get

I read some comments about kuyt having his best game for us yesterday...If that was his best and the fact that he is starting for us says a lot.... Manure, chelsea and arsenal won't even sign kuyt if he was free...... Heck even spurs will bark at the idea of having kuyt in their team.......

He works hard...i give him that...But is that we want in our strikers....? Call me heartless or whatever...but i grew up with Rush, Alderidge, owen and fowler. In fact give me cisse, baros, saunders or collymore anytime over kuyt.

For me...kuyt will be remembered in the same league as dundee and erik meijer....

I thought he did well today despite having to spend most of his time on the right wing. He's beginning to get back into scoring positions again. Hopefully it won't be long before he gets a goal.

Why is he on the right wing. I don't rate Pennant but he is a right wide man but came on to play the left.

Can anybody explain what Rafa it thinking?

Kuyt and the loss of his Dad

Another season for me... he's having a shocking season but I thought he was the real deal when we got him and I still think he'll get it right.  He's really suffering with the loss of his Dad and remember that virtually all footballers have their Dad's full support at the beginning of their careers - no 1 fan, supporter, personal trainer, boot cleaner, transport... everything before football clubs come calling.  Its a difficult time when you lose someone very close  and some people take a bit longer to get over it.

His work rate is phenomenal so lets get rid of some of the dross before we start getting rid of players of the calibre of Kuyt

Either he was told to pull right by Rafa to make it a 4-5-1 or

Gerrard was supposed to be playing there but kept wandering. Kuyt then had to cover.

As for Pennant on the left  ??? Theonly thing I can imagine is Babel couldn't last and Pennant would do the most damage to Chelsea. Rafa probably thought it was working on the right so didn't want to alter that side.

He was poor before his dad died. I saw him in the world cup and said he was out of the depth.

Nice lad but I really think Birmingham is his standard. He will probably be to Benitez what Diouf and Diao were to GH.

He's got the worst "first touch" in the Premiership.

He is very hardworking, but too often he's chasing down a ball that he lost in the first place.

I still fail to see what was so good about kuyt last year?  For me last season he was average at best and this season his been worse.

Here's an interesting comparison of Kuyt's scoring this season :-

Apps 01-10 : 3 goals in 10 appearances (0.300 goals/appearance, 67 mins/app)
Apps 11-20 : 4 goals in 10 appearances (0.400 goals/appearance, 71 mins/app)
Apps 21-30 : 0 goals in 10 appearances (0.000 goals/appearance, 45 mins/app)

Since he has been used in what is almost an every other game role he has hit bad form. OK he wasn't exactly prolific before, but in a sixteen game spell starting with Wigan towards the end of last season and ending with the winners at the bitters this season he scored eight goals. I think the problem is Rafa keeps changing the partner for Torres in part of his grand plan of rotation and it means only Torres is in any kind of form up front. I'm no great fan of Crouch, but chopping and changing isn't helping him either.

Playing him out of position doesn't help, nor does the rotation :censored: I detest.  At the end of the day Kuyt, Crouch and Voronin aren't good enough to play for LFC.  I will be very annoyed if they aren't sold in the summer, it's time to bring in the quality...no more :censored: about!

He doesn't have to score goals if he assists his team mates to score goals.  So playing him out of position is not a good enough reason for him to be :censored:.  It's not just his scoring ability, it's also his passing and ball control that has been pathetic the entire season.  I won't count those 3 goals he scored in the EPL, 2 being from penalties and 1 which bounced off his shin.  He has not done anyting!!
