ASTON VILLA VS LIVERPOOL - Big test

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ola Mr Benitez » Fri Nov 04, 2005 12:49 pm

I think he may start with Kewell, he has been bringing him on in the last few games to get him match fir, so he is going to start with him sooner or later... the problem may be there he puts Garcia back on the right and Gerrard back in the middle, probably resting Sissoko.  If he is going to play HK he should probably drop Garcia to the bench and bring him on in the 2nd half
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Some good news from the Echo...

"What is most encouraging is for the first time since he joined Liverpool Benitez feels a preferred, available first team is taking shape. Injury permitting, the next eight Premiership matches won't include so many alterations from week to week.

"I didn't make many changes from one game to the next between West Ham and Anderlecht. Only one player was different," said Benitez.

"I think the players I've selected can now see there is an opportunity for them to stay in the side for a long period if they play well.

"I was sure we'd play well against Anderlecht because I felt a change in the confidence in the players after the West Ham game. I could sense they enjoyed how they played and the attitude seemed different.

"Although people talk about changes to the team, it should be said that before we played Anderlecht it was only the second time since I've joined the club I had every member of my squad fit. There was no-one in the treatment room. This makes a big difference to us."

I'm over the moon to hear Rafa say that players won't be rotated (if they play well).  We'll find out at noon tomorrow how true that is.

That's fantastic news! You may see the tempo raised over the next couple of matches as the team will eventually be able to read each other and their actions better

i look at the two teams and i just can't see how villa can cope with our midfield. we're too strong in that area and should control the possession and tempo of the game.

I can't see crouch getting a goal  ???

I'd go for Cisse def, with Garcia or Gerrard to add a second.

Got to agree about that, the team will get better with a settled set of players and we dont have enough quality to constantly change the side.
I hope Morientes is fit and that he partners Cisse upfront, i feel sorry for Crouch he looks so short on confidence but we need to start picking the same players if we are to get any sort of consistency in the league.

For the club to win many more games to come, the club needs to stick with the proven squad structure. The result with Anderlecht proved the efficiency of the current squad positioning.

i'd absolutely love it! but in all honestly....what are the chances, i love the idea of cisse and morientes up front together, forming some kind of partnership....and why not? their games would suggest they could work together, but they've both been unconvincing, hopefully we can work villa and give them a confidance boost.

It's funny how strikers always seem to score against their old clubs...
