ASTON VILLA VS LIVERPOOL - Big test

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby anfieldadorer » Thu Nov 03, 2005 6:18 pm

"I can't wait to face Liverpool. I have nothing to prove - what happened is that I moved and you have to move if you want to play first-team football.

"I always had a good relationship with the Liverpool fans and I'll always support them. I want to do my best for Villa and the fans and that's all. Of course there will be a special motivation because it's my former club and I've still got a lot of friends there.

"If I could score against them, it would be great, but only from the point of view that I want to score in every game. What matters is three points."

He showed glimpses of real class in his four appearances to date which brought two goals against Blackburn and Wycombe.

He says his decision to play for the Czech Republic against Holland - after missing the Middlesbrough game which angered O'Leary - was the correct one.

"I had an injection - but not to my Achilles. I'd do the same again - the leg was okay - I trained without any painkillers on the Thursday and Friday and my leg was okay.

"But I got a kick to the same place in the game against Holland and the leg got worse.''

"I had to stop. I could've played in the Finland game with painkillers but I didn't want to damage it any more."

I have a topsy turvy feeling about this match, I feel confident after the match on Tuesday, but whenever I feel confident about a win, we either draw a bad match or lose and everyone flies off the handle about how bad we are, it just seems too "Liverpool like" for them to follow up two inpressive matches with a poor one. Although based on form alone, 3 points are in the bag and Baros will grab the lone goal for Villa.

I dont think Baros will be fit TBH, but if he is bet he has the game of his life against us they always do.
I dont see why we cant win I want to see the same team as last saturday and tuesday maybe with Cisse in for Crouch.
Our lads are going on Internationals after this game so we need our best 11 playing before the Int break, and we despratley need 3 points try and get into the top half of the table a.s.a.p.
I expect us to win be a decent goal margin and I fancy Kewell to get his first goal of this season.
CMON YOU REDS. :buttrock

I'm not entirely confident, and that's the first time I've said that in a very long time. Our form after CL matches is pathetic, and we've yet to win an away game.

:censored: hate international friendly waste of time, could bloody do without them now we are starting to get the team going.
Watch for mysterious injuries to be picked up for Lampard and Terry against the mancs on sunday
And for Carra to replace Terry and Gerrard in for fat frank its a cert.

At least Villa have had to play mid-week so technically they should be as knackered as our lads. I'm not gonna try and predict this one. You simply don't know what to expect. Like most i would love to see us come out with the same line-up/set-up as West Ham last week.

Really hope Baros doesn't make it back for this one. I remember years ago we sold Dean Saunders to Villa (after just one season at Anfield) and the bugger scored 2 against us early the following season.

Sh.it, have i jinxed us.......Dohhhh!

in all fairness lynds, the likes of reina, morientes, garcia, alonso and riise have got playoff matches for the world cup.

however i agree that to have a full round of friendlies aswell in november is f#cking ridiculous. and it's not as if gerrard and carra are playing in england either. they've got to play in switzerland ffs.

I hate International games, fecking waste of everyone's time.

You really don't know what you can expect from either side on Saturday, the league has gone tits up at the moment. FFS Wigan are second in the league.

Dont worry about Wigan A.B. they are due a good tonking and once they get it they will slowly fally down to the bottom half of the table, same as Charlton they always start off well and fall to the bottom half of the table in the new year.

Looking at current form of the 2 teams we should slaughter Villa, but then again this is Liverpool we're talking about, I honestly don't know what to expect.  If our team is largely unchanged then I think we'll win, so here's hoping.

Wouldn't surprise me if Baros scored, he'll be up for this one and he's hard to handle when he's on form, he's got the pace on our centre backs so we'll need to watch him.

I don't expect them to continue with this form but I didn't exactly expect them to be the closest to Chelsea within the first 2/3 months of the season
