Let's face it we have all stood or sat next to somebody who's mouth isn't controlled by their brain and they constantly abuse players racially or otherwise. Frankly they should simply be ignored!

It's quite easy to say that when your not on the end of the abuse !

You can't just say ignore it !!!

Harsh punishments need to be handed out to stop it happening - get games played behind closed doors , dock clubs points , kick them out of comps - start hitting them where it hurts . It doesn't matter how much someone gets paid it doesn't mean they have to endure abuse .

And what will that lesson be? If your losing a cup tie have Trojan fan in the stands to hurl abuse
Stamp racism out, this sort of obsessed navel gazing only encourages it

Let's not overreact  then Benny !!!! What's the answer if it happens during a Premiership match? Do you advocate that the team should be banned for the rest of the season from the Premiership? Just how the do you control what an idiot in the crowd says? Banning the team from competitions certainly isn't the answer.

I don't think I have ever seen a player react the way Tom Adeyemi did and whilst it was distressing to see the lad so upset I just wonder if his reaction would have been the same if it had happened before the FA imposed such a Draconian style punishment on Luis Suarez. What would happen if Liverpool were banned from the competition for failing to control their supporters? Would Oldham automatically go through to the next round? Interesting tactic when you are being thrashed!

Let's not get it blown out of proportion ,Their is a difference between a single racist individual and a whole stand throwing abusive comments at a player. A club can't be accountable for the words of one person ,If we can track him down and ban him for life let's do it but the FA can't be collectivly punshing the team for an action of one that's insane.

At the ground there were various rumours from a coin being thrown at him , calling him a manc or calling him a black b@&!tard - just look at the lad and see how visibly upset the lad was its not rocket science to guess which insult was said !!!! A young 20year old lad just playing football and he is subjected to that - if it's confirmed it was racial then kick us out of the FA Cup !! A lesson needs to be learnt and a message needs to be sent out .

I think you are spot on there Benny.

The lad is visibly upset. This a whole new kettle of fish to the Louis incident.

If a "fan" has used racist language towards a player he should be locked up.

To be honest as he was on the Kop, I am surprised he was not chastised by the other fans around him. If I had been next to him I certainly would have told him to shut the :censored: up!

Overreaction it is not - harsh yes .

Racial abuse is no different if it's from one person or the whole crowd - the effect is still the same

The club are responsible for the actions of every single fan in the ground

Kicking clubs out of competitons would be an extreme punishment which would be last resort - far too long now clubs and countries have been given pathetic fines that don't even touch petty cash - something stronger needs to be done .

It is not a new kettle of fish. It is a continuance. People have insisted on harsh punishments for racial abuse. The somewhat theatrical behaviour of Adeyemi and the abuse from an idiot in the crowd were a direct result of the Draconian style punishment imposed on Suarez imho.

Initially your response was that if it was proved that the supporter had been racially insulting then we should be thrown out of the FA Cup regardless of our excellent record with regards to racist issues. That was your first resort now your saying that clubs should be banned from competitions as a last resort. This is a typical example of extreme overreaction which you fail to accept. I'm not trying to be clever Benny but this is an extremely emotive issue that people react to in a very different way to other types of insulting behaviour.

Well Benny, you should tell that to the FA, where were they when Everton threw missles and hurled abuse on Suarez and Bellamy, or when Manc fans started chanting awful things about Hillsborough, or when Gerrard got constant abuse from opposing fans about his personal life.

This incident is nothing compared to incidents that John Barnes used to get, or Samuel Etoo. John Barnes used to get abused every week but he didn't cry, he got on with playing football. Racism should be stamped sure, but banning teams from competitions because of a set of fans is overreaction

I hope your not serious with a comment like that ?

He is a young 20 year old lad going to play football - yes he is going to get a bit of stick but when the abuse is bad enough to visiably upset the lad then there is something very wrong

Liverpool fans are far from innocent MH - the chants about Munich started way before Hillsboro happened . As well as the chants about Rooneys personal life - lets not play the martyrs here - sections of Liverpool fans are just as bad and need kicked out

i spent an hour or so after the match looking round and even contributing to a few newspaper blogs and stuff. nobody is actually talking about the match - instead there is a feeling of hatred and disgust towards suarez, dalglish and the club itself. people are even starting a campaign to get us kicked out of the FA cup.

now we all know that there has been a certain injustice to the way suarez has been treated, even though every one has agreed he is not racist. as a club we've tried to defend him, but all everyone else sees is a bunch of people condoning racism. this, so far unclarified, incident last night has only served to confirm in most peoples' minds that we are a despicable, horrible, racist club and bunch of fans.

the club needs to come out with a clear statement as soon as possible to try and clear its name before the shít really begins to stick.

I was just giving some examples Benny, I know section of the Liverpool fans are far from innocent. However, its always the minority and its difficult to control, sending harsh punishments will not work IMO, minorities of abusers will and always exists among football fans
