Oldham versus Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - Games

I'm a Fan so of course I'm disappointed that yet again AWAY from home we don't turn up until an hours already been played !

However as someone who went to both Cup Finals last season and saw the Manager get sacked as a result you can be damn sure it won't bother Fenway as much as it bothers supporters ! The CL is King so King Kenny was dethroned when they didn't qualify for the Promissed Land and Prince Charming brought in as the great new hope. Still to record a win against a TOP 10 premier League team and now out thought tactically by Paul Dichov FFS ! Makes you wonder if he is a Prince or a frog !

With regards to Coates that was the worse performance I've seen from a defender in a LFC shirt since Julian Dicks ! He was shocking and although i accept he had a stunning Copa America 18 months ago I haven't seen any of that whilst he has been turning out for the Reds apart from that spectacular volley against QPR before we capitulated and conceded 3 goals in 14 mins !

People will point to the average age of the outfield players (22 yrs) but a few of the younger set have played in the first choice 11 and look knackered !

Sterling has gone off the boil big time and Wisdom is functional at best, Downing is a left footed right winger who NEVER takes players on and ALWAYS comes inside so gets worked out in first 5 minutes. Suarez had a rare day off and the back line were roughed up big time by a team that wanted it more so well done Oldham.

Yes he did the cheeky little tw@t!
He sliced a shot in the box when it would have been better if he passed to Suarez

I've said it before and will say it again, we are lacking characters in the team. When the Sh*t hit's the fan's there's no now one there to dish out bollocking's if and when they are due.  Stevie and Carra are the only two who are capable of this but both are in the twilight's of their career's. Was looking around today when we fell behind and couldn't see anyone on the pitch to really stand up and take the game by the neck. We also need a dominating commanding centre back someone who can organise to play with either Agger or Skrtel (personally prefer Agger although don't think his been at his best recently).

Oldham deserved it more today, simple as. They wanted it more.

They played a very physical but determined game. As someone has said, just another Stoke mark 2.

Dodgers needs to start planning better for these sort of games as we have been found out time and time against these hack sides.

The ref was very poor and shouldn't have been so lenient on some of the rubbish that they dished out.

Coates had an absoulate stinker but the worst performance by far was by Jones, horrendous goalkeeping pretty much gave them the victory.

Lets hope thats was his last game of the season and we see Pepe back.

It happens. Oldham fought for their lives and deserved the win, they were the better side and there is no shame in a knowledging it. We were poor, too many players not playing well enough and more not up for a fight.

We have gone some way to learning that a lot of the squad need to grow some backbone and grit, and fight for themselves, the club and the supporters. Coates was awful, Robinson out of his depth and too many of the rest were hiding in a deep hole.

We are still in a good place. The signing of Sturridge looks to be a good one but there is still major surgery required and those that will remain after BR has the squad he wants need to step up.

Kenny was sacked because he ***** 75 mil down a Carrol/Downing/Henderson/Charlie Adam sized hole. end of. We spent 75m and our squad got worse! Also, he was a public relations nightmare.

I think Robinson needs to be seriously disciplined for his mouthing off...

He'll be a lucky lad if he remains a Liverpool player!!!

I took my rose tinted glasses off years ago. Let's be honest we were a s.*i*e today and will continue to be for the rest of the season. We won't get a point in the next 2 games. And we all know it

Yes, we'll be very lucky to get a single point in the next 2 tough games. I expect us to be severely beaten and slide down to about 12th/13th. Coutinho should have chosen Southampton instead of us. He's misled by the history of this club. Today's Liverpool is a mid table side managed by an unproven manager who only knows how to talk well and owned by stingy, stupid, clueless owners who specialise in baseball and are still learning about football.

Back to the game, Oldham were just like Stoke and they had nothing to lose and played their hearts out. Even if they were thrashed, nobody would blame them. The Liverpool team on the other hand were full of inexperienced young players and/or not many first team regulars. And those few first team regulars who were playing had an off day and were not given the service they needed to shine. Those players were Jones, Robinson, Coates, Wisdom, Sterling, Allen, Borini. I noticed when Stevie came on, the tide turned to our favour and also Oldham were more interested in defending their lead. Our passing, composure and confidence were awful. If BR is going to use those non first team regular players throughout this FA Cup campaign, I'm glad we're knocked out early to save from further blushes. Imagine had we played manure, city or chelsea away yesterday? It could have been a 5-0 thrashing with that poor side.

With Henderson and Allen as the 2 central midfielders I knew right from the start the result would be a disappointment. We need an experienced creative midfielder to supply the ammunition to the front men to score and apart from Stevie, we have no one. I'll say it again, FSG policy of signing young, potential talented youngsters is good but you have to have a balance of youth and experience to fight for top 4. With only promising youngsters in the first team, you'll forever be a Work in Progress and while you're in that, the rich top sides will come and sign them and we'll become another Feeder club like Arsenal and we'll forever remain a Work in Progress mid table side. The thick heads of FSG need to wake up and realise this. The signing of Coutinho is an exciting one but he's only 20 and not a ready made experienced player and like wine we'll have to wait for about 3 years for him to mature and it will be scary to think where we will be in the table by then.

BR may be having a good run of results in the PL recently, but I still reserve my personal judgement of him after the end of this PL campaign. But my opinion of him so far is that he's not the finished article yet. He's an unproven young manager who is still struggling to learn how to manage a big club with high ambitions.

This club has become a bit of a farce IMHO in the past 20 years since Evans was appointed. Evans, Houllier and Rafa consistently qualified us for top 4 finish for most of their tenure and yet they were fired. Now we have a manager who can only help us finish mid table at best. If you look back long enough, we've regressed as a club in terms of PL performance.

We can all be downhearted by the performance and the result but the fact of it was we was missing pretty much a full team. Im not making excuses but when you replace Jones for Reina, Wisdom for Johnson, Coates for Agger Robinson for Enrique, Henderson for Gerrard and Allen for Lucas your looking at acompletely diffrent team.

People talking about the next two matches saying we wont get a point. Well look at Chelseas performance vs Brentford they have just beaten Arsenal.

The game was bad people who had chances to show they should remain Liverpool players and fight for a place in the first team shriveled. Jones was Bad His positioning was absolutely awful for the 3rd goal He dropped the ball for the second and the first was just a  catastrphe of errors.

Robinson probably was the worst player i have seen all season- We need a cover for LB and yesterday was his chance to show it and he never all he showed is he is a gobby young boy

Coates was bad but he wont be a Liverpool player much longer but may have cost himself his move to Napoli.

Sterling since signing his professional contract has been dire at best. Has be come to big for himself

Sturridge also had a bad game.

The formation was poor aswell 4-2-1-3 which was played more like a 4-2-4 with all the attackers trying to play through the middle and no width at all.

Onwards and upwards guys an away win at Arsenal will cheer us all up

It depends on which team is put out
Hopefully Rodgers has finally learnt that he must play his strongest team if he wants results
No rocket surgery, just plain common sense

We simply cannot cope with a physical opponent.  Lots of comparisons to Stoke which I agree with, but Oldham are marginally better to watch!!  :eyebrow

Knowing what was coming the first two names on the team sheet would have been Carra and Lucas for me.  I have no idea why Coates started.  He is already heavily rumoured to be off, so why play him?

It is clear BR does not rate him.  On that performance he'd struggle to hold down a first team spot for Oldham in their league.  He look petrified of that WWE reject they had up front, and his and Jones' dire performances were pretty much why we lost.

We did of course have one disallowed and we hit the bar too but no excuses we were shocking.  The players have to take that on the chin, but so does the manager.  Away at a physical League 2 side is not the time to start with the seven dwarfs....we needed strong physical players wherever we could.

We are crying out for strong players who can hold their own in this type of game and lead the others if and when Gerrard isn't playing.

By the way, what an impact he had yesterday.  Oozing class with every touch, he showed the other LFC players what is required and expected whoever the opponents.  Class!

What's wrong with you miserable people? Why do you even watch Liverpool play if you are certain that we'll lose every game? It's football, that's how the game works, Sh*t happens! Spurs ***** up against Leeds, Chelsea drew and Arsenal nearly did as well, all against lower league opposition. Remember when we laughed at the scum when they lost against Crystal Place last season?

Yes, it was a terrible game but it's not like it's the first time happening. To us or any other team.
