The shot of broughton half way through the first half was worrying. He had a look of a man who would rather be somewhere else. Ok so he's a chelsea fan, but ffs show a little bit of enthusiasm. He looked like a man with the world on his shoulders

Glen Johnson? That's harsh, because up until the point where he misstimed that jump, he was playing very well and made no mistakes whatsoever. If you really want to disect their goal, then the blame can be shared by Mascherano who let Forlan ghost past him from the right-back position after ball watching. We were always going to be undone at least once in this game. Our shortcomings are not in effort, or even ablity at times. It's our bench and the lack of a potent goal scorer.

Fact: Johnson cannot defend. End of fact.

He was exposed badly tonight

The tactics towards the end were a mess aswell..

i think aquilani had the best game he's ever had in a red shirt tonight. he was playing with confidence, and he was involved in a lot of build up play. he was great as the link, the player who starts the transition from defense to attack, in the same way xabi was. we're more fluid and balanced when he's on.

2248: Plenty of messages from Liverpool fans encouraging Rafa Benitez to consider his future. Plenty of others complaining about the rule that away goals count in extra time - as in, Liverpool only had 90 mins to score an away goal, while Atletico had 120

interesting point tbh

On a serious note,

We looked shattered after 70 mins, proper treading water.

I was screaming for Gerrard to be put up front (a la Pique last night)  for the second half of extra time, (even my missus said "is Gerrard in defence?".

If Dirk puts that chance away in the first half, that would've went down as one of the all-time great Anfield goals.

Thanks for the memories Rafa, we will never forget you.

The second half cost us....... we took our foot off the pedal and let them back in the game thinking we could score on the break...... we couldn't. Maybe we would have conceeded a goal in normal time if we had continued attacking, but maybe we would have won the game comfortably.

When they are down...... you don't fecking let them get up.
