yeah - hopefully he'lll just stay as a proper striker in and around the box today. he doesn't need to drop back as much as gerrard is there and he has alonso and mash pulling thew strings further back, so hopefully he'll push on.

Finnan         Carra     Agger         Arbeloa

Pennant  Mascherano  Alonso        Riise

                  Gerrard
                           Kuyt

Swap Dirk for Crouch and thats probably our strongest 11 for me at the moment. Riise is a lot better on the left of midfield than at left back and he restores the balance we are missing with Harry out.

I predict a 2 - 0 win for us today - Dirk Kuyt 2 goals.

I have a funny feeling Dirk will shine today. He has not played a lot of football recently compared to the last few months and I feel playing as the out and out striker will bring the best out of him. Gerrard in support aint a bad player to be setting you up as well.

Maybe Dirk will give Rafa some headaches this weekend.

Here's hoping....

was just about to say the same thing.

Hope Kuyt scores a few today to prove some doubters wrong and get some confidence.

dont know if this is actually what rafa is thinking but this is smart. He gets to test this 4-5-1 that seems to be having a lot of success especially with mascherano and arbeloa and crouch becoming a new man.  Now he has to see if it passes the test with somebody else up top.  Also right now everybody can say that crouch is ON FORM the last 3 weeks but everybody else has been kind of cold, well myabe rafa is using this game to see if he can light a spark plug to get another one of his strikers going so that he can have loads of really good options for Chelsea.

Course Rafa either used a  magic 8 ball  or actually did a lot of research on city and figured that Kuyt was best to attack their style of defense.:D

TOP MARKS TO MAN CITY TODAY

Their chairman John Wardle has paid tribute to our 96 sisters and brothers and placed a wreath pitchside in memory of them.

Kudos to Pearce as well for coming out before the game and saying how good a manager Rafa is.

city seem to have 1 tactic - chipped ball over the top for the forwards to chase. so long as agger and carra keep their concentration we should be ok.

bit like the villa gane this... i know only 15mins gone, but quite drab so far, very slow. city defending very deep. packed midfield with city playing 4-5-1, and us with a 4-4-1-1 - though with vassells pace they actually look more dangerous on the break
