MANCHESTER CITY VS LIVERPOOL - 1st team to beat man city at home?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Toffeehater » Wed Dec 26, 2007 6:30 pm

Ok get the derby result behind us , this sunday Manchester City play us and They are unbeaten at home this season have won all 9 of their fixtures including against Manchester united and have scored 17 goals with only conceding 5 . very tight back line . I'd have to say this will be a real test for us if we are to challenge for the title and also i think it will be a draw when i look at it realistically but i'd go with a 1-0 win.

The team which i think rafa will put out after viewing the Derby game in which we were bad , esp some of the players .

                               Reina

Arbeloa                     Carra                Hypia              Riise

Yossi                        Gerrad              Masch              Kewell

                               Torres              Crouch/Kuyt

I think rafa will pick 2 wide man , to provide the service for the fowards and also if crouch plays , to pump in balls towards crouch . Crouch will be there to bother the man city defence to clear the way for torres . Anyway i'd go for a 1-0 win for us with kewell getting the goal

Well if we play the same way we have just played against Derby then we will not be picking up any points.

we had an off day today , rmb man city lost 6-0 to chelsea , nothing went right for them , that was their off day . every team has an off day and today was ours and lucky for us we won . now can we leave the derby match behind us

What was that against Reading? Personally I thought that was our day off getting beat 3-1, cant believe we played worst than that today because we did.

got a feeling it will be an open game with city scoring first and the match ending up 2-2 i think a draw will be a good result but we need the 3 points

I don't know, the Gerrard and masch midfield sounds tempting but I'd like to see Alonso in this one.

   Alonso      Masch
          Gerrard
Benayoun       Kewell
           Torres

Ye played treibble against derby !!!

Cant wait for this match should be class ....

I thinkthe team will be :

                          Reina
  Arbeloa      carragher  sami          riise

  gerrard     mascherano  alonso       kewel

                torres      kuyt

Have a feeling he might move gerrard over to the right because he wants to get Alonso's match fitness back ......

needs to put out his strongest side like the one that played against United, no resting players or any surprises please, don't mind Gerrard on the right if he goes that way

we played well for the first 25 mins today and looked like we were going to walk it today, but jewell got them fired right up and we didn't look capable of dealing with it, but it is the sign of a good team that play sh!te and still win, for the most of it that is what manure have built there dynasty on

torres took his one and only but of good play today and we should be grateful to have a player that dosen't need ten chances to score one

man city are going into the game flying this season and we really need the points, so i can see a right ding dong of a game coming, i hope we play better than we did today as city now have the discipline to  hold a lead if they get one

gerrard double will do me fine

Records are there to be broken and I doubt Man City will go the whole season unbeaten at home.

We will have to be better than we were against Derby and our away record is none too shabby.

I predict a tight game but an away win.  As long as Rafa sticks to the spine of Reina-Carra-Gerrard-Torres and picks a sensible team around those 4 we'll win.
