Matchup of the day probably?

Dirk Kuyt v/s Gareth Barry (if he plays on the left!!)

C'mon Kuyt - Barry's gonna be passing TO you so let's have a few goals :)

On a serious note, this could be the sort of hard-working, physical battle that Kuyt relishes if Barry plays on the left, so should be interesting.

But Barry never plays on the left for Villa. He's almost always a CM. So it's Barry vs. Alonso. You know...
Xabi vs. his replacement in a duel to the death, etc.

If Barry plays in the centre Masch will keep him quiet.Alonso's job will be to make things happen by spraying the ball about.

We need a good game from Alonso today, time for him to stand up!

I'll take another ugly win today. (feels like a nailed on draw though).

At some stage pretty soon...we are going to need a big performance as well as these 3 points to lift the confidence overall - but like i said, a win will do however it arrives. Tough game though today.

If we can keep it tight at the back we have a chance of nicking it as Villa don't have the best defence. We need a big game from the likes of Keane, Alonso and Babel.

This is not going to be a stroll in the park.

Villa is a tough team and have been improving in recent times. MON will have his boys fired up. If Carew plays up front, we'll need Sammi or Skrtel to watch him. Their wingers aren't too shabby either. I reckon our fullbacks will be in for a torrid afternoon. Still we should be good enough to win..... even without Gerrard.

With Gerrard out, we'll probably revert to a 4-4-2 but we'll need Aurelio on the left instead of Benayoun. Get Babel to come off the bench or maybe try him out on the right (i'm loathe to suggest that actually as I've not seen him there enough). But the burden of driving our midfield engine will have to rest on Xabi's shoulder. We all know he's got the ability..... maybe without Gerrard in the mix, Xabi will feel that he's got more freedom to express himself.... but one thing is clear.... He NEEDS to pull his finger out and stand up and be counted today.

C'mon lads! Put the last 4 games out of your minds and show these lads what LFC is made of.

C'mon you red men!!!!

Expect Villa to be flying down both flanks, hope our wide men and full backs are up to it. Think we can catch them on the counter via Torres or Keane but it's gonna be tight.
