villa haven't beaten anyone since Blackburn on 7th February. They lost at home to boro on 09/11/08 and went on a 13 game unbeaten run in the league. It's gone tits up since, out of the FA and UEFA Cups, behind Arsenal on GD

17/08/08-09/11/08 : P12 W6 D2 L4 F20 A16 PTS 20
15/11/08-07/02/09 : P13 W9 D4 L0 F20 A8 PTS 31
21/02/09-15/03/09 : P4 W0 D1 L3 F3 A7 PTS 1

Ironic because a Leicester fan with a pretty obvious soft spot for MON and his current charges claimed villa would overtake us. They have the second best away record in the Premiership behind Chelsea, and as many points on the road as we have at home.

Liverpool (home) P14 W8 D6 L0 F22 A8 PTS 30
A Villa (away) P14 W10 D0 L4 F22 A14 PTS 30

BUT.................. villa haven't beaten us in a league game since 08/09/01 when they beat us 3-1 at Anfield. Despite that 15 game unbeaten run against them in all competitions, we've done only one double over them in that time - in 2005/06. We haven't drawn home and away against them in the league since 99/00 (both 0-0)

LAST FIVE PREMIERSHIP (H/A)

Liverpool (home) WDWDW = 11/15 points
A Villa (away) LWWWW = 12/15 points

Must win for us, we can't draw another home game, that would be 13 in the last 33 home league games (39.39%) or nearly 2 in 5.

Great time to play Villa to be honest. Their bubble has well and truly burst.

However I'd like to see our best eleven and hopefully injuries will allow us to watch it.

During the game, I saw that Mascherano got yellow card number 5, when does he get a yellow card accumulation match? Hopefully we can count on him.

Doesnt matter about his fifth booking sabre, there was an amnesty from 28/2, so no problems for Masher for this one.

Our goal difference is closing in on Chelsea and that could be vital as we get down to the wire.

Lets catch the mancs first before we start worrying about Chelsea Bav  :D

Villa form at the moment is poor but so was BORO's and looked what happened there . As much as i'd like to say we'd win i think this will be a 0-0 draw or they might nick a goal and win .

Bermenstein wrote:In the ascendancy now, we must keep on this peak and roll over the opposition. We are all in the clouds at the moment and we dont want anyone to brings us back down, so hopefully we can win our remaining 9 games from here & hope Utd slip up in 3 games (2 Man U draws and a Man U defeat could be enough if we close the goal difference from the +5 they have. Also got to keep an eye on Chelsea as they have a +4 goal diff on us) We would both finish on 88 points, but we would have to start really beating teams by 2/3/4 goals to cut the goal diff gap, because United will beat some teams heavily.

So with Villa on Sunday, we may have to play it tight as Villa will play the counter. We may need to score 2, as trying to defend 1-0's is a tricky task, and one that could cost us the title.

So I am going for
Liverpool 2-0 Villa

(p.s. Thanks for all the "Hail Bermenstein" posts in the Man Utd thread. Made me feel very good and had a laugh. I think it was Sabre who got the ball rolling  :D )

blooming heck bumstain (bermenstien) :D. the manure match wasnt even finished and you posted this thread very early. reckon you scared i'd get it done first  :p

No link searching for this one on Sunday.  It'll be live on FSC at 12pm EDT.  No HDTV though :(  Hoping to see the best XI out for this one.  Here's hoping for an injury free week of training.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.
