MOM ? Don't think any player on either side deserves that accolade.

Our best player however was imo Carragher. Turned in his usual dependable shift.

Xabi also looked fairly good, he must have been as surprised as I was to discover Villa giving him so much time on the ball.

Excuse me to ask so much, but the Spanish tv let me down and I'm downloading the game. Nobody mentions Reina, is it because he had a very quiet game? That is, can we say in the positive side that ASton Villa didn't test our keeper at their home?

even though Keane didn't play particularly at his best I thought that he improved after he was moved back up front... I thought one mistake by rafa was substituting keane for benayoun because keane was looking dangerous on the counter... after benayoun came on there was no hope for us to score the winner...

He wasn't really tested Sabre. Guess thats why many who were fearful before the kick off are disappointed we didn't pick up all the points.

both sides didn't have much shots on goals... keane screwed up a 1 on 1... to be fair he was roughly tackled by reo-cocker... but yea villa wasn't that good even against us without gerrard and torres... but on the other hand we weren't good either... but I thought we could've nicked it in a period of between 60-75 mins... until benayoun came on for keane...

IMO, Keane actually looked better after Torres went off, makes me wonder about the future of the Torres/Keane pairing

Thats only becasue Keane slotted into the centre where Torres was. Perhaps they could both play in the centre with Torres ahead of Keane.

That game would get football stopped it was so bad.
Thought Dossena was man o the match, looked quite lively gong forward and threw in a few tricky crosses.

sigh... the 4-5-1 in the first half was terrible... bloody boring... rafa needs to stop playing too many people out of position... keane should not be played on the wing at all... wasted... he's not kuyt

...hopefully when reira comes we will have more balance...

opportunity wasted... villa was there for the taking.. especially in the second half...

the problem i have with Dossena is that there seems to be a lack of ideas with him. I dont see him being at the club for that long.

didn't think it was such a bad performance myself, at least in the light of the last 3 games. for most of the 2nd half we looked much more likely to score than them, at moments we linked up very nicely between midfield and attack. if keane had taken that 1 on 1 a second earlier he'd have avoided a great bit of defending and maybe got off the mark for us. i have absolutely no idea why benitez took him off when he was starting to cause their defence some problems. another completely baffling decision.

I wonder why Babel didnt play at all. Rafa was moaning about losing him fro the Olympics. Here we are a game before an international break and Rafa still doesnt use him.
