I feel we need a bit more pace and fire in midfield, just think with current 4 there isn't a lot to mix it up. Kuyt works hard no doubt about that, but Glen would provide more crosses and movement which we se to lack so far.

I think that's a good strategy as GJ is our best natural winger.  But it's also an opportunity for Kuyt to play his way back to form against a team we should throttle.  I'd say start GJ at right back,  bring on Kelly for Kuyt, in the 2nd half  - move GJ to RM :nod

Johnson is nowhere near a natural right winger - he is an attacking football who takes advantage of space created by a right mid tucking inside and overlapps . It's totally different being a right back and right winger - he wouldn't have the space

Totally agree Benny, but it's that attacking intent we have to show, especially against teams like WBA. We need to dominate them in the final third, players like GJ can do that for us. If we play anything less than attacking footy it will give WBA the confidence to start playing and no doubt give us a few problems.
Let's go and and run them :censored: ragged  :D

I think Benny is correct.

But the question is...

Against teams that are going to park the bus, would you rather have Kuyt or Johnson on the right wing?

It's against the park-the-bussers that Benny's point is even more valid.  By nature, park-the-bussers like to sit in, get two iron curtains of 4 set up and restrict the space to play.  What this means is that there's very little space to operate in and the winger's job, more often than not, is to make infield runs to drag defenders away from the touchlines, which frees up space for the fullbacks to get in behind and get crosses in.  Moving Johnson to RM in such games would totally remove the threat he poses.  Far better to play Joe Cole on the right with GJ overlapping.

Thsi will be a tough game. A lot of pressure on the lads, and it'll be againhst the bus... an early goal and it could be a shedload... the longer it stays 0-0 the more nervous we'll be

Match could go 2 ways, if we get an early goal which breaks them down, they cant really park the bus, if it drags on could end up being a 0-0 type of affair, although I had a dream last nihgt that Torres bummed them into next week.
