EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL - 17 oct 2010, ko: 13:30

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby maypaxvobiscum » Tue Oct 05, 2010 5:58 am

Definitely not too early to start this thread as its looking more and more like a do-or-die match for Roy Hodgson to salvage some pride after a disastrous run of results.

Considering the fact that both teams are somewhere in the relegation zone, expect the atmosphere to be electric with a possible red card or 2.

The last six meetings between us and them has seen us win 5 while drawing another. However, to be honest, i can't see us winning this going by the precedent of the previous games. I hope to be proven wrong, i just don't wish to see Meireles end up at leftback and Gerrard in defense at the end of the game. I would also consider playing Kyrgiakos as we do need someone dominant in the air. Cahill would be a threat unless he is injured, he is their top scorer with 3 goals so far.

Steven Pienaar is reportedly injured, while Fernando Torres might not be fit either. Everton would be brimming with confidence too after breaking Birmingham's unbeaten home record after 13months. An ill-tempered 2:2 draw looks likely though we desperately need a win more then ever.

Neville said in some report that the embarrassment of being at the bottom of the table inspired them to beat Birmingham. I hope our players do find some kind of similar pride in them, and go for the win.

This fixture couldn't have come at a worse time for Roy.

He needed something nice and easy at home...like one of the promoted sides like Blackpo....oh wait!!

Anyway, he doesn't need the Derby now, but I suppose he has the benefit of Carra and Gerrard threatening to break legs if team mates can't be asr$ed for this one.

With any luck we'll have a left back available, and if we do, I'd put out a straigh 4-4-2, and go for it.  We showed how good we are at sitting back last time out (against fecking Blackpool...still can't believe it).

                     Reina

Kelly (if fit)  Carra  Skrtl   Agger

Kuyt   Gerrard   Lucas   Jova

              Cole
Torres (Ngog if Torres not fit)

I haven't picked Poulsen or Mereiles (sp?) for this one as I don't think either (certainly Poulsen) could cope.

At least Lucas has been there and done it in these fixtures.

I've also dropped Johnson, as he is having an absolute mare.  He needs a bloody haircut, and to sort his form out.

If we lose this I think this forum might explode.

Agree with most of your post mate just dont agree with playing lucas!

I remember only bad memories of Lucas in the derbies.

Meireles can hold his weight, he isnt afraid of getting a knock or two

I don't think I've ever been so pleased to see an International break.

In recent seasons we've gone into the Derby in poor form and managed to dig out a result. I can't quite remember such a significant one in recent years though with both clubs struggling. The last one this big was probably in 2005 when we were both chasing 4th.

The players have to take a long hard look at themselves going into this. There's been a distict lack of confidence and commitment recently but if they can't get themselves up for this then they need to question why they're playing the game.

It's not about fancy football at this stage. It's about attitude and desire.

This is gonna be a huge match.  i think Roy will get sacked if we lose.  Id like to say 2 - 0 to the Reds but i honestly believe it will go the other way.

2-0 Everton is my prediction.

we have been :censored: recently plain and simple however we still have quality in gerrard and torres players who can win matches and change a season. I would have dropped carragher but since its a derby i think he will be needed. Meireles is lookiong good and i would definetely start him i would like to see kuyt play upfront if torres is unfit however ngog would probably get the nod. This is a Amust win so ive gone for a line up which im confident will win the game.

                             Reina
Johnson         Carragher Kyriakos       Agger

                           Poulsen

Kuyt                                                   Cole

                 Meireles           Gerrard

                             Torres/ Ngog

0-2 i predict

guess its not just Liverpool fans who agree Johnson is garbage this season. taken off an Everton forum....

"don't give captain fantastic any room, attack Johnson, put Carrigher under pressure......."

im actually worried about Johnson's ability to cope with their pressure as his mind seems very much elsewhere. Baines is gonna
slaughter him if he doesnt buck up.
