EXETER CITY VS LIVERPOOL - 24 august 2011, ko: 19:45

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby maypaxvobiscum » Sun Aug 21, 2011 5:13 pm

We shouldn't have a problem beating them even with a reserve squad. They have not won their last 3 games:

Preston - Exeter 1 - 0
Exeter - Brentford 1 - 2
Exeter - MK Dons 0 - 2

We on the other hand, showed great mental character to win against Arsenal recently.

Pacheco and Aquilani will not be playing as the Spaniard to due a move within the next few days while Aquilani has no desire to play for Liverpool. This is a chance for the fringe players to give Kenny a selection headache. But i do wish to see an exceptionally strong team though.

------------Doni
Kelly--Carra--Agger--Robinson
-------Meireles--Spearing
Sterling-----Cole------Maxi
------------Kuyt

subs: Jones, Flanagan, Wilson, Shelvey, Henderson, Ngog and Suarez.

predicted score: Exeter 0:6 Liverpool

seriously.

Doni

Flanno  Soto  Wilson  Robinson

Hendo  Spearing  shelvey  Maxi

Cole/Meireles (Depending on if Kenny plans on starting Meireles against Bolton)

N'Gog

No need to risk Carra or Agger when we have back ups that in theory can get the job done.  Kuyt may be in there just because he's so fit.  This is where Hendo should start and he should sit against Bolton.

We should have this problem free... So lets hope it turns out that way.

Doni

Flanno    Cara      Wilson    Robinson

         Spearing    Shelvey

Cole         Henderson         Maxi

                Kuyt

Subs:  Reina, Kelly, Agger, Meireles, Sterling, N'gog, Carroll

There are a lot of players there that haven't played together regularly, and this is Exeter's cup final, they'll be a different team. Let's not underestimate them.

Couldnt have come at a better time.. Many players have a lot to prove to the manager and this is their chance to do so...

                   Doni

Flanno    Cara      Soto     Robinson

        Spearing    Henderson

Cole         Meireles          Maxi

                Ngog

Jones - Wilson, Shelvey, Downing, Kelly, Kuyt, Carroll... in that order on the bench.. Playing one upfront means we'll most likely need to sub them after 60-70mins... Kuyt if winning, both if losing, Carroll if draw... If we dont attacking flair we'll need a Downing type of player to come off the bench.. Dont expect it personally but better safe than sorry

prediction: 0-3 Ngog, Maxi and Meireles to have a good game

Can't wait for this, heck I can't wait for any game at this point.  It's so nice to have footie back and for once we'll actually have a bit of quality in this comp.  I'm looking forward to who we name in the lineup.  I don't really know what lineup to expect at this point but very excited to see us field some quality in the starting XI instead of it all being on the bench.

These will be a formidable challenge!

I think we'll field a very strong team that could even include the likes of Carroll, Raul and Suarez.  (obviously not for the whole 90)
We're not playing until Saturday evening which is plenty of time for rest.

And we need to do well in this due to lack of Europe.  Think there'll be a good blend of experience and youth.

no need for team rotation except Pepe (to avoid injury), the first XI need game time and with no Europe there is no excuse to rest tired players. Full strength squad and a goal fest is what I expect.

Exeter 0 - 6 Liverpool (Carroll 2, Suarez 3, Kuyt)

Hmm, you guys forgetting about Skrtel? The line-up that I would play:

                Doni

Flanno  Carra   Skrtel  Robinson

  Hendo   Spearing   Shelvey

   Kuyt      N'gog     Rodriguez

Subs:
Jones
Kyrgiakos
Kelly
Coady
Sterling
Meireles
Suarez

It's a bit risky because we all know how bad we can screw up against on paper weaker teams. Suarez and Meireles should be on the bench in case things don't go as planned. If things go well then we can let Coady and Sterling have a go, replacing Hendo and Kuyt. Would also like to see Kelly as a CB so I would sub him with Carra at some point of the game.

As for the likes of Poulsen, Cole, Insua and Degen, I wouldn't play any of them because for me all of them are unwanted at our club and should try better to find a different club.

I would like Aquilani to start instead of Shelvey but we all know that that's not going to happen.

Winning silverware is great for getting a winning mentality.
Once we won that Carling Cup in 2001, we went on to win a couple of trophies and play in a few finals between 01 and 07.

Im p.issed that we havent won anything in 5 years    :D

I'm quite interested to see how we handle this, for the last few years we've usually made a struggle out of away games against lesser sides. Squad depth certainly looks a lot more adequate to deal with this challenge anyway
