i think our duck has been broken regarding clean sheets. Not that we're fragile defensively but i think our clean sheet run has come to an end. I predict 3-1 Liverpool

Sabre thinks we are going to be very motivated

Success will come. Morientes scores.

Alonso motivated

abi Alonso today insisted Liverpool can overcome the pain of defeat in Japan and bring more silverware to Anfield.
Despite Sunday's disappointing defeat to Sao Paulo in Yokohama, the Spanish midfielder claims the Reds are remaining positive ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Newcastle.

"Losing the final gives us more determination to win in future. We feel we've wasted one chance to win a trophy, but we have motivation to win more trophies," said Alonso.

"Now we have to put the disappointment of losing the world club championship final behind us and concentrate on the Premiership now.

"The final is in the past and now we must look forward. But instead of thinking about the fact we lost, we can be positive and say we showed we could have been the world champions. We were better than the team which won."

"Fans" like you do my frigging head in.

Go to an LFC game and boo and ex player and see what the MAJORITY of the people think of you and say to you. You would be in an uncomfortable minority I can tell you.

This vitriol towards Owen is going too far. He served us from the age of 11 to 24. He gave us loads of good memories - lets hope none of his detractors on here broke anything when they jumped up to celebrate his goals at Cardiff in 2001

And as for this he betrayed us to go to Madrid stuff? Were any of you party to the private negotiations between him and LFC?

Oh and remember how long it took us to get Gerrard signed up but that's ok to forget this if we can use it to beat up Owen.

Owen was on target to beat Rushies (yes the greatest goalscorer in the club's history for those who are too young, or too naive to remember) records even given the injuries he had suffered. We have not had a genuine proven goalscorer at the club since and yet we still "put the boot in".

You are, of course, all entitled to your opinion but he should welcomed back with open arms before the game and then we should put his team in its place on the pitch. We are Liverpool fans - we just don't boo ex-players who return.

Actually I want you idiots to boo him for the sheer fact that I think you need a smack round the head to come to your senses. I can't wait to see some backhands on Boxing Day  :D

If he gets booed, this will only decrease the chance of us potentially buying him in the future. Personally  I wouldn't buy him but I suppose pragmatism can be important when it comes to operating in the transfer market in order to get what's best for the team.

And in that quote we see some sense.

Lets hope most people in the ground are real fans that realise LFC are a different club to anywhere else and we dont boo ex players..

Anyways to the game.....

I think you'll see a Crouch - Cisse combo. They worked really well together against Saprissa and both Boumsoung and Bramble aren't the best in the air or fast on the ground.

                        Reina

Finnan     Carragher     Hyypia     Warnock

               Alonso     Hamann

    Gerrard         Garcia            Kewell

                 Cisse      Crouch

I think Kewell is worthy of a start, the sao paulo game was a good one for harry and i think he is becoming reliable in his form. Hopefully he won't ©ock it up.
