LIVERPOOL VS MANCHESTER CITY - Build up here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Don't wanna sound like a gloom merchant, but this match is a potential banana skin.... If we create a lot of chances and don't put them away (like we have been doing for sometime already), we could end up losing 1-0......

This is the team i would put out.

                       Reina
    Finnan   Agger   Hyppia   Riise
    Garcia    Gerrard   Hamann Kewell
                   Crouch
                               Cisse

Mohammed Sissoko is out for the season with his eye injury, while Daniel Agger is expected to replace Jamie Carragher who is suspended for the early afternoon game.

Robbie Fowler is ineligible following his transfer from City last month, but Steven Gerrard will return to the side after recovering from the dead leg that kept him out of the starting 11 on Tuesday night.

Team (from): Reina, Finnan, Hyypia, Traore, Agger, Riise, Warnock, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Alonso, Hamann, Kewell, Cisse, Crouch, Morientes, Dudek, Kromkamp.

rafa has said that its either traore or agger and has also said that ageer is to weak at the moment so i think he could start with traore although i would be angered by this idea agger didnt play to bad against birmingham on his debut and hes only 1st team game

I'd play a simple 4-4-2

Reina, Finnan, Agger, Hyypia, Warnock, Kromkamp, Gerrard, Alonso, Kewell, Morientes and Crouch.

I would go:

                Reina

Finnan  Hyypia  Agger  Riise

Gerrard Alonso Hamann Kewell

            Crouch Cisse

Subs

Morientes
Garcia
Kromkamp
Troare
Dudek

The good think is that we will have had 4 full days off before the Man City game, so tiredness wont be such an issue. Also are next 3 games are all at home and are spread out nicely so we can stick our best team out without the need to worry about tiredness.

Agger is the obvious choice to come in for Carragher. I would put Hamann in the centre because as I said before we have had 4 days off and our next 3 games are spread out nicely so tiredness wont be such an issue.

Although I'm not much of a fan of Cisse I don’t believe in excluding him completely otherwise he will just become disillusioned and feel resentful towards the club. I think we should give him a game upfront(not on the wing), because one thing he does possess is a goal threat. And I think this may be just the right time to bring him in, he has just been dropped from the French squad and he will be desperate to score some goals.

I agree with Cool Hand about Cisse, however I cant see Rafa doing this as the relationship is beyond repair. However Rafa always surprises me most Saturdays( or in this case a Sunday before all the snipers start). Having just been dropped he might want to prove a point.

We need to rest didi or xabi over the next few weeks because theyre gonna be playing alot now without momo.

A win is on the cards but then I'm not sure if we will actually finish off the chances we create.
