Let's face it, Kuyt gets more freedom to run anywhere he wants more than any other player in the team.  He gets the freedom to do whatever he wants more than Gerrard.

It is probably because he gets back and covers his position. Simple really!

The problem with Kuyt is he is not pretty to watch but he is a hard working, pure footballer who is a coach's type player. Diciplined in his approach following the coach's instructions to a tee yet lacking a bit of flair and that confuses some as to his talent level. Bottom line is he would start in more teams than many would give him credit for as coach's would love him in the team for the hard grafting he does (highly valuable asset) while not forgetting he is never injured.

He is not my favorite player but I see clearly why Rafa rates him. He starts for his country (that also is a testament to his ability) and they know talented players. Until we have something better he should start.

Bottom line is as long as he gives his all and plays for us he deserves our support.

Kinell, son, do you even watch us play?  Kuyt can be accused of many things but a loiterer in the 6-yard box ain't one of them.  The guy covers virtually every blade of grass in the oppo half game in, game out FFS.

IMO, Kuyt was deserving of criticism earlier in the season but in the last 3 games he's come up with 3 goals--two of them match winners.  If I were a Kuyt basher round about now I'd be zipping my lip and getting my head down, not tilting at windmills.     :O

Ok, so let's forget he has been **** besides the last 3 games in the whole season. And still gets picked week in a and week out.
Let's forget he scores penalties that other players create.
Let's forget he just can't lead the line as he has showed so many times by now.
Let's forget he missed 2 sitters vs spurs.
Let's forget his goal vs Bolton was a mishit that didn't miss the net cause he was thankfully too close to the goalline.

He is a very limited player who the rest of the team has to carry offensivly unless it is to poke it in from 6 yards.
He can never turn a defender which means he is a non threat outside the box.
If that is the quality you are satisfied we will never win.
Crouch was always the better striker of the 2 and still Kuyt was always picked ahead.
The sooner we get rid of that kind of player from our starting lineup the sooner we will win something again.

I am still counting the trophies we'we won since he arrived 2006 just after we had won the FA cup. Coincidence...
I think not.

We haven't won anything purely because of Kuyt?

Kuyt is the reason we have not won the league or a cup?

As soon as Kuyt pokes in a ball in the 6 yard box, from someone elses work, every 3rd/4th game everyone forgets what Kuyt accomplish the rest of the time. Besides running not much else.

Bottom line, Soto Kyrgiakos is also a rather limited player but is currently in good form and most Liverpool supporters are standing behind him not waffling on about his limitations or making lame excuses about why we should overlook the things he's done well in the last little while.  The same approach should apply with Kuyt.  I've never said he was the most gifted player and there have been times when I felt he should be dropped.  But FFS, he's scoring goals just at the moment, which is pretty much his job description.  What else do you want?  Frankly, I don't care how he scores them as long as he does.  IMO, all this nonsense about him camping out in the box waiting to leech off the work of others makes you sound like a loon, mate.  I think Dirk deserves a little more credit for the good work he's doing of late and I for one am grateful for it.  I shudder to think how much deeper in the sh!te we'd be right now if he hadn't scored the goals he had over the last two weeks.

The problem is

a) everyone including the dog watching the games can see that Kuyt has been in terrible form for most of the season and no matter what he has his "get out of jail free card" that gets him picked week in a and week out.

And that is infuriating cause imo his is not the kind of player that will move us forward. I have never seen a footballer where pure hardwork and not much else is rewarded this highly and lets a player nowhere near top football quality play in a team aspiring for top honours.

I am sorry if I just can't fall in love with his constant running and declarations of love for the club.
I think it is time to cut our losses this summer.

50th goal for him today. Made up for the guy, he is always a hard worker and deserves all the praise he is getting right now.

The game was right up his street today and he always does well in these derby games as they are old fashioned type games which just need passion and hard work. You have to admire the lad, I just think if were going to be the best we need quality and when it comes down to it he is one of a number of players we have who don't quite have it

Said it before..if he possessed a bit more talent he'd be the best player on the planet, because no one works as hard. He'd run through walls.
