DIRK KUYT - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

People have been way too hard on Dirk, its pathetic and it annoys me!
Yeah he has been poor but he has been playing a team that was playing poorly, since Torres has been off the guy has lifted his game and scored crucial goals,we'd have been fuc'ked without him!
Hes playing better as the team have started to play a bit better and Im sure will improve more.

Today he was excellent, proper passion for the shirt, never gave up,never stopped fighting and scored the all important goal. How people cant appreciate a player like him is beyond me!
We'd miss him if he left, believe me,I love the guy!

He has 4 good games and once again we forget the 20 awful ones he had before.
2007 all over again....

Played 15 games before Everton game and got 2 penalties (which he didn't even create) and all of a sudden Kuyt the legend.

Does no one have long term memories or do people just have selective memories?

And don't even start about not being happy about beating the bitters. I am delighted but that is 2 distinct seperate things!

Mate we have just probably turned a corner and he has scored some important goals for us in the last few games. Why must you say negative things like that?

I just want some perspective please.
Do I want him shot? No
Do I think he is some kind of legend cause he scores in a derby? No
Everything is just blown out of perportions when this guy has a good game.
He was very good today, cause Kuyt relish in these kind of battling displays. But that doesn't mean those 25 games previously in the season where he was awful just disappears.

Let's forget he scores penalties that other players create.
Let's forget he just can't lead the line as he has showed so many times by now.
Let's forget he missed 2 sitters vs spurs.
Let's forget his goal vs Bolton was a mishit that didn't miss the net cause he was thankfully too close to the goalline.

He is a very limited player who the rest of the team has to carry offensivly unless it is to poke it in from 6 yards.
He can never turn a defender which means he is a non threat outside the box.
If that is the quality you are satisfied we will never win.
Crouch was always the better striker of the 2 and still Kuyt was always picked ahead.
The sooner we get rid of that kind of player from our starting lineup the sooner we will win something again.

I am still counting the trophies we'we won since he arrived 2006 just after we had won the FA cup. Coincidence...
I think not.

the word clueless doesn't do you justice

All Penguins are black and white  :wwww

How do you explain this ?

As soon as Kuyt pokes in a ball in the 6 yard box, from someone elses work, every 3rd/4th game everyone forgets what Kuyt accomplish the rest of the time. Besides running not much else.

What about scoring winning goals?
And wtf do you mean "poke it in after someone elses work"?
What do you expect him to do, pass to his self?
What a bellwop!  :no

Yep.
Its a shame it`ll have to come out of whatever transfer funds we have though.
The way things are we might have to sell a player first.

Penguins I agree with your opinion on Kuyt and this^ response in all honesty confirms your pretty much spot on. Your being told to change the record and no football debate has entered the fray. Its because it can't, they know your pretty much right.

Kuyt is limited, but he has scored some important goals for us and does work very hard for the team, kudos to Kuyt for that.

MotM for me against the bitters was Mascha, I thought he was outstanding and his allround contribution throughout the 90mins was fantastic.

A good win against Everton where all 10-men dug in, a perfect game for players like Mascha, Carra, Kuyt and Lucas where grit and determination is needed. When it comes to Arsenal and more guile and creativty will be needed I hope to eat a little more humble pie that the likes of Kuyt and Lucas will hopefully be serving out.
