Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well, if you look at the amount of games I can not think of a player that has overall been in worse form this season.

Giving 100% is not enough if you are a sub standard player.
No one can miss sitters like Kuyt and still get away with it.

i have no idea how such a limited player like kuyt can start every single game for us.. especially when he's in terrible form.

this is why i dislike rafa at times.. extreme favoritism on some players.

wow... right! he is so limited and in such a terrible form that he scored the only 2 goals against Spurs.
If our worst player can score 2 goals against our top 4 rivals I wonder how many goals our other players can score...

:glare:

Yeah, we don't really care the fact that he just gave us a very crucial win and we also don't really care that he has in the past scored some very crucial goals and never failed to give the shirt 100% every single time. What we do care is of course how limited he is even though we know that most players are limited in one way or another and that it depends on how one uses one's strengths and attitude on field. Yeah Kuyt is so limited that the Anfield souvenir shop should sell limited edition Dirk Kuyt figures at twice the price that of other players'.  :glare:

From Today's Mirror

Dirk Kuyt says he feels more like a Liverpudlian than a Dutchman – because even his kids speak with a Scouse accent.

Kuyt immersed himself in Merseyside life from the moment he moved to Liverpool from Feyenoord in a £10million deal three-and-a-half-years ago.

While many foreign players head for the cosmopolitan shopping streets of Manchester or the leafy lanes of Cheshire, the 29-year-old has ensconced himself in a Liverpool suburb.

A friend still brings Dutch delicacies over from Holland, but the Kuyt family enjoy nothing better than a trip to the local fish and chip shop.

uyt has become something of a cult hero with the Kop – and no wonder when he says: “When I moved to England with my family we tried to keep Dutch as our main language in the house. But that has been impossible.

“My eldest daughter Noelle is fluent in English now. In fact, it’s not so much English she speaks as Scouse.

“What makes it even madder is that she talks in a genuine local dialect.

“Scousers talk with some sounds that are similar to Dutch and my daughter is a proper Scouser.

“When we go on holiday she has to speak in a proper English accent so people can understand her. It cracks me up, it is so funny. I must admit that I have become a bit of a Scouser too. I keep noticing I think in English, I count in English.

“Our youngest kids Roan and Jordan have English names and because they were born in Liverpool — they are genuine Scousers.

“We all feel so much at home here. We hardly ever visit Holland these days.”

Kuyt, whose two goals in midweek against Tottenham revived Liverpool’s season, will lead Holland’s attack at the World Cup next summer. He added: “My food tastes are still very Dutch and my friend Willem brings me my favourite things over from my home village every week.

“But in our house I am the fish and chips man.

“Every Friday I bring chips for the family.

“I have to stick with the pasta because we usually have a game the next day, but when the match against Spurs was called off recently I got stuck in as well.”

Kuyt believes it is the city’s togetherness that has enabled Liverpool to emerge from the crisis that threatened to wreck their season.
Kuyt said: “The fans at Liverpool illustrate what the club is about. I’ve been to a few clubs and in the bad times you get nothing but flak.

'But here? The fans of Liverpool tell you to keep going. They wish you all the best even when things are going badly and you know they are hurting.Amazing.”

I consider it an honour  that Dirk see,s himself as one of us, a real genuine Lad and a  player in the same mould as Carragher   :D

It's ok having players of Carraghers mould as a defender type player but on the wing? He is nether going to be a match winner is he?,  who can turn a game on it's head.Don't get me wrong I like him for his work rate but one of the reasons we have fell so short this season is because of our lack of quality.

AGENT: NO JUVE BID FOR KUYT    Posted 27/01/

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt knows nothing about a possible move to Juventus, his agent Robert Jansen has claimed.

Reds manager Rafa Benitez has recently been tipped to take over at Juve with current boss Ciro Ferrera severely under pressure after a number of lacklustre displays.

The reports have sparked rumours over which players could join the Spaniard if he moves to Italy and Kuyt has seen his name linked with the Serie A club.

However the forward, who Benitez bought for £9million from Feyenoord in summer 2006, is happy at Anfield, according to Jansen.

"I know nothing of Juventus' interest," he told Calciomercato.it.

"No-one has contacted us at the moment. He is now happy at Liverpool where he has two more years of his contract left."

With Benitez refusing to rule out a switch to Serie A after his side's 0-0 draw with Wolves on Tuesday, Jansen took a similar stance with Kuyt.

"The relationship with Benitez is excellent," he added.

"If Dirk could follow Rafa when he becomes the next coach of Juventus? I don't know. I cannot answer these questions now."

If Rafa did go to Juve who would be his first signing? would he go for Gerrard or Torres, Maybe Mascherano, No you can bet your mortgage Dirk would be walking into John Lennon airport hand in hand with Rafa with montse and kids 10 minutes behind.

Nah, he never wins us games nor does he score goals, those who don't have a hate-on for Kuyt are imagining things when he does.

He's one of few players in our side who works hard in attack and defence, AND scores goals AND creates goals AND wins games. But because his first touch isn't always great and he doesn't go past the full-back like wingers who don't score goals or get as many assists do, then he's criticised. He just doesn't get hero worship, I mean ffs Skrtel got worshipped more back at the time when he was thundering into tackles (even though he gave away fouls a lot) than Kuyt does full-stop. Mascherano wins the ball and gets cult status, Kuyt contributes more to the team and is wanted out. I'd like to see the much quoted Kerry stat about Lucas extended to show how many goals and assists Mascherano contributes, or to how many assists, goals and how many own goals, errors leading to free-kicks, penalties and directly to goals, Mascherano, Insua, Skrtel, Agger, and half the team are culpable for. Yet Lucas is singled out, just like Kuyt is.

We've scored 40 league goals this season, one an og, but Kuyt is second top scorer on seven behind Torres (12) with only Gerrard and Benayoun close to him with both on five. We could switch formation to two up front but Kuyt's one of the two that would have to play up front, but the likes of Riera, Mascherano, Lucas, Aurelio, Degen, Aquilani and Rodriguez have a handful of Premiership goals between them yet some want Kuyt dropped in favour of packing the midfield with X players from that little lot as if that will fix our problem.

For all the whinging you do about the boss it suprises me how much you battle Lucas' and Kuyt's corners. Both these players epitomise Rafa's methodologies where he demands energy and tenacity from his 'grinding machine'.

Yet the problem with these two players specifically is, neither have the technical or natural ability that differentiates an average player from a quality one.

Mascha is a better tackler and defensive midfielder than Lucas thats why he's in the team. Lucas is the wrong type of player to be playing alongside the Argie and this has gone some way to our disastrous season thus far. Had Gerrard been moved back into the engine room earlier in the season, when it was patently obvious the Lucas/Mascha combo wasn't working we'd of picked up a few more points than we now have currently IMHO.

As for Kuyt its as clear as mud he is limited, but what else is just as clear, he's a Rafa type player who is never dropped. So when you critise the gaffer next time, have a think about the two fella's your backing now and the irony in your posts.

 You forgot Lucas

The Echo got a pic of Rafa, Lucas and Dirky on holiday together last Summer..

If the Diggler had talent to match his workrate, he'd be world class.. as his mentality/commitment/team ethos is second to none.

He's Rafa perfect pupil... obedient, doesnt answer back, carries out orders. Lucas is the same... which explains why  two such limited footballers get anywhere near the first XI. Disobedient vastly more talented players such as Bellamy get shown the door. Rafa likes footsoldiers....yes men.

This is in contrast to Whiskey nose...who takes the talented outspoken bad boy everytime (Cantona)...harnesses them, as they are match winners, and defends them to the death. Sees the bigger picture.
