We've been a much better team this season though, and the win against Villa was a big step forward. I think we'll prove a point on Saturday.

'ave it, Liverpool are quality at the moment. If we keep up our fairly good luck with injuries (we deserve it after last season!) I see no reason we can't carry on this form and maybe give chelsea something to look over their shoulders at in a few months time :D
People say rafa doesn't know the premiership and we aren't building on our champions league success, :censored: to that - 6 clean sheets in a row!

Good result but we need to keep it going. We have Sunderland away on Wednesday. They've been terrible but last time we played them in the Premiership at the Stadium of Light, we lost.

Excellent result that,it looks as if we're beginning to shake off our Jekyll & Hyde personality, nevertheless let's hope we can get another win against Sunderland.... :)

A great win and also a very hard place to get a result. It may not have been pretty but the result speaks volumes of our intention.

Crouch has been a good player for us and its time he scored a goal to cap it off.

Listening to the phone in on Radio Merseyside a Evertonion said that Crouch would get his first goal against them in the derby game.
That would be a goal worth waiting for!!!!

WELL DONE RED MEN!!!! :D

If we beat Sunderland, then thats 5 out of 5, which is top form, no doubt about that. If you look at the likes of Man UTD, Chelsea and Arsenal, over the past couple of years they have always managed to put 5 or 6 game runs together. We haven't....I'd guess that its probably back in 2002 since we last won 5 on the trot in the league.

In all fairness, we should be able to beat Sunderland away. My only concern is that for the last couple of seasons, we have had a shocker away to a team which ends up being relegated (and yes, Sunderland will be relegated). I think Sunderland are the weakest team in the Premiership since....er, Sunderland in 2003, but we need to be on our toes. If we start the game well we will win at a canter, but if our passing is off and the game is scrappy, Sunderland could shock us.

I said earlier in the week that if we beat Man City away after the Champions League I would be impressed. Now that our tails are up I will be impressed if we beat Sunderland next week. The Liverpool of the past couple of years have often shot themselves in the foot when they got a good run going, beating Sunderland away would be another monkey off our back, and it would make it 5 wins from 5 with Wigan at home next week.

I think its Wigan and then Boro, and looking at it, while those matches will be no pushovers, keeping the run going could set up the remainder of the season. There is a genuine chance to get in between Man UTD and Arsenal, and if we keep this run going, we can give ourselves a platform to do that.

After Sunderland, we have 3 games at home [Wigan,Boro and Newcastle].

Like you said, beating Sunderland would be another bonus because we always seem to lose to a side who are :censored: and nee d a result. We lost to Palace and Soton last season who were at the bottom and then we lost to Sunderland 2-1 in 2002

Yes, AB, thats exactly it.

Our away form this season is improving, but we need to be cautious in our optimism. As you said, last season Palace and Southampton beat us away from home. Obviously on paper we are odds on to win, and win easily, but we need to eradicate the mistakes of last season.

Very true, and I'm sure that Benitez realizes that the mistakes we made in the past can not be made again if we want to seriously challenge for the top 3/4 spots in the Premiership.

We can't take anything for granted,as the Premiership is unpredictable. We should approach this game as any other game. They will be up for this one considering that they are yet to win at home, they've beaten us before and they're playing against European Champions.

Sometimes these kind of games are the most dangerous.

Correct.

If we score first, we should win comfortably. No doubt about that. If Sunderland score first we could have a problem.

An obvious comparison would be Southampton last season.

However, Sunderland lack firepower, that is their biggest problem. Palace last year had Andy Johnson, Southampton had Crouch, Phillips and latterly Camara, whereas Norwich had Ashton and Huckerby. Sunderland's biggest weakness is their lack of a half decent forward.

Another thing worth mentioning is that we've only lost 2 matches so far this season and compared to last season before December thats pretty good.
I definately think this is a turning point to the season and the belief in the team is starting to pay dividends.

Benitez is starting to learn the English game more and we should be confident of a top 3 finish.

4 wins in a row in the Prem. Fantastic to get another result today and our form over the last few games has shown we can put a winning run together. Before this i dont think we had put a 3 game winning run on for a couple of seasons. We are finally finding consistency and i hope it continues so we can challenge the top 3. If we win our 2 games in hand we would be 2nd

The defence is immense at the moment. 6 clean sheets in a row and 5 wins from 6 is extremely impressive.

Hyypia, Carragher, Finnan and Riise or Warnock have been fantastic. Superb all season, Reina's been superb. Great result today and i have to say i'm well impressed.

A right winger for the first team, a striker and a quality centre half would see us with the second best squad in the league and with a squad good enough to challenge Chelsea.
