Said it before and I'll say it again...I just cannot see Hodgeson working out at Anfield. Not in a million years.

Whoever does get it, in the end, be it Roy, Kenny, Martin or whatever...they will have a really difficult season ahead of them. Either way, Benitez wasn't cutting the mustard and I certainly couldn't have take another season with him at the helm, that's for sure.

He was never going to turn it around. 6 years with only 1 serious effort at the title? And even that was buggered. Not good enough by a long shot.

Hodgson or Dalglish at least in the short term will be fine. When the club is under new ownership they can look at the situation and change it if they wish. We dont have to give the new manager a long term contract but enough to get us through this tricky period and keep things ticking over on the park. Its not the end of the world. With Dagger or Hodgson I would expect the team that takes to the field will do no worse than last year, and if we manage to hang on to our leading lights theres a good chance it will be even better. Look its a rocky period and now its a time of change amongst the management and playing staff and whilst everyone else is in mad panic I would sooner look at it another way assume the change will do us good and we will see the beginnings of a bright new era coming out of it.

Not inspired by the propsect of Hodgson joining. He's done a good job at Fulham and had patches of success here, there and everywhere but so have many other managers and there are simply better options out there, Dalglish prime amongst them. I'd be satisfied with Kenny, O'Neil or Lippi (ain't gonna happen though). I'm not convinced by Rijkaard, Van Basten, Eriksson and to a lesser extent Van Gaal (second spell at Barca, remember it well) given the stage we're at. Rafa's departure was justified because of inconsistency in the league so let's make that - consistency in the league - our number one priority.

He may well do, but lets not cry over milk that has not been spilt yet.

I havent got a problem with how much Rafa had to spend and even how he spent it.

I do think he played players out of position, was too stubborn ever to change his ways when they where clearly failing, would set up the team with Ngog instead of Torres and Lucas instead of Alonso even though EVERYONE could see they could not play those roles, didnt play Aquilani even when he was fir after spending £20 mill on him, would not change things in games when they where not working.

All these things where under his control, not the owners, yet he did not address them.

That is why I wanted Rafa out.

Now I want the owners out.

If a manager comes in and plays our players in the right positions and does a bit of motivation, our fisrt 11 is not that bad.. it has just been underperforming..

I still beleive in the words of You'll Never Walk Alone - as did Shanks, Bob, Joe and the rest of the men that made this club great.  We dont only sing it in the good times.. in fact we should be singing it louder and prouder now when our club needs it.

C'mon people - This is Anfield - This is Liverpool - This is our club!

With the state of our club I cannot see a manager of any real quality coming in, idiot owners, relatively low funds, and high expectations will likely mean we are in the same position again in 2-3 years time. Which is why we are linked to the same old tired names. O'Neil is a very average manager, and his stock has risen simply because, along with Redknapp, he is the darling of the English press. Hodgeson has had one good season which has been magnified by having a great cup run, and that apparently justifies giving him the keys to Anfield, no fcking way. Sven is a mercenary, and I cannot see him doing any better than Rafas last year, I don't believe that he has the committment and drive required.

For me the only logical choice is Kenny, not because he is the best manager out there, although he's certainly better than that lot, but because we need a manager that will galvanise the support once more behind the team, we need to have patience and he would automatically get the time and his popularity would mean that when he tells us that the owners are restricting the clubs success, we would all believe him.

I'm afraid in the face of reality these inspiring words sound empty, when Hodegson is the height of the names being linked with the 'Anfield hot seat' - we walk alone mateys.. in the abyss

The club has been f'ucked-up, the stars wanna leave and we wanna entice potential new owners with 'Hodgeson' and hope Gerrard and co feel inspired by 'Woy' -

Bring on Dalglishg I say - we need to lobby for Dalglish - especially if he wants the job !!

I'm glad I werent sat next to you at half time in 2005

We should organise a protest at Anfield to proclaim in the most vocal method possible that we want Dalglish as manager ,and Hodgson will not be tolerated ........ before the cranks at the Club think they have the upper hand ....

Daglish as manager? Jesus, he's been out of the game for a decade. He's not the answer and he's NOT the man to bring in to deal with pressure either.

I'd no sooner want to see Dalgish in charge than i would want to see Ian Rush and John Barnes back in the team as middle aged men. It simply wont work.

2005 were the glory days Neil... can you really compare the current plight of the club with that scenario - win or lose we had faith in our MANAGER.. do you have faith in those currently being linked with the club today?

Does the ownership problem and the spine wanting to leave compare?

.. now we have the prospect of ... i dare not say it.. it's too f'ukin depressing !

I'm with ya Red -he may have been out of the game a long time - but he's still a legend and knows enough to carry us at this time.

we?? i didn't have faith in Rafa, especially after he tried to sell ALONSO and replace him with BARRY.

Add his cringeworthy rants, disasterous signings and negative tactics and it was clear, some months ago, he had to leave.
