LIVERPOOL VS WIGAN ATHLETIC - Wednesday 16th december 2009

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby JamCar05 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 9:53 pm

Really need to kill this game off asap, as we can't seem to keep too many clean sheets and it might become a bit nervy. Perhaps bring on Torres? Or should we rather keep him on the bench and only bring on if truly necessary (ie - GOD FORBID - they score)? Am genuinly asking as I haven't seen any of the match myself.

I think its because he can concentrate on what he's good at breaking up play. When Lucas plays beside him he has to try to create as well.

well tonight gerrard is playing as poor as lucas has played all season and creating nothing and give masher lots of work to do with loosing the ball numerous times  - yossi is creating most of the good stuff tonight

Spot on. Even though Gerrard clearly still isn't fit and is playing at about 50% of his capability, he has given the team a totally different perspective than from when we have the Lucas/Masherano axis.

The likes of Ian St. John, Tommy Smith, Kevin Keegan, Ron Yeats, Phil Thompson, Chris Lawler, Roger Hunt and Ian Callaghan are applauded on to the pitch at Anfield during half-time to continue the celebrations marking 50 years since Bill Shankly took over as Liverpool manager. Members of his family are also warmly applauded on to the pitch before Shankly's favourite tune of Amazing Grace is played by two men on bagpipes

If you noticed Gerrard was playing a lot of very positive balls forward. Many didn't come off, but it did put the team on a forward foot.

He has been shocking , very poor all the first half , no point passing it forward if all your going to do is pass it to them .
