Season scapegoats - Who's your pick

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The fact that S@int was obviously ironical doesn't hide the fact that it's true that people find scapegoats.

I think that Benayoun has indeed a difficult task equaling Luis Garcia's versatility (1). He was unimpressive yesterday, Pompey is not the kind of thing that allows you to operate in the 3/4 part of the pitch comfortably. I saw a good dribble to the middle to seek his good foot and a good shot with a good save of James.

I haven't Stu-esque powers to know if a player will make it or not that early, but I think he's going to be quite much used along the season, some sort of replacement of Zenden in terms of games played, or something.

(1) Note to self: Check if he's injured, it was a surprise not to see him playing in Atletico when Atletico is struggling in creativity.

Quality thread Saint, quality. have to agree Crouchy with, as you say, his goals from last season forgotten (completely by some idiots) is deffo the crowd favourite for this one. But i reckon Kewell may well beat him to it. Remember whe he feigned injury in the Champions League final so he could come off? Got no heart, no bottle and no stomach for the fight that one.

I'm going for a surprise choice of Agger - he keeps getting out done in the air and overpowered by the likes of Drogba, he also keeps going walkabout out of defence - one of these days he'll get caught out when his shot doesn't end up in the top corner.

Only Kanu and Drogba have gotten the better of Drogba imo, and a stupid choice to me at least. [Each to his own though]

???

I was getting tired of Sami,Carragher and Henchoz hoofing the ball over the last couple of years. And we finally get a central defender who is comfortable on the ball out of his natural confront zone when going forward. And you're criticizing him for that?

My pick is Arbeloa.

I had a coach that said that when it comes to football versatile players that play in different positions means a  player is cráp. Jack in all trades master in no one, I think you say there. Sooner rather than later he'll  be put under heavy pressure especially if he has Benayoun on front, and then the praises will cease to exist and we'll all remember Riise and we the antiArbeloa campists that now are lurking patiently will then say our veredict.

Just as I know tomorrow the sun will rise from the east, I know that moment of criticism will reach. I've prepared my remarks for then already:

"maybe not great defending but Riise at least has a long shot" or

"Ah, how I miss that stamina burst in min 75 that broke through oppo tired defences and ended up with a superb goal"

or

"we don't have a long throw in specialist any more, we used to create danger when later on those throw ins were touched by Crouch we created second chances"

It's a matter of time.  :D

My choice is Steve Gerrard. I mean, come on - he's a nothing player, isn't he!

its got to be rafa, i love the guy but he is very infuriating at times. any loss will be down to his team selection (unless of course he has the first choice 11 out and we still lose then i will blame alonso)    :D

(although alonso wouldnt be in my first choice 11 so then i would have to blame kuyt for his abysmal finishing (this is of course assuming kuyt would be in my starting 11) as he can not finish), then when all else fails the physio, you know the one, the guy who looks like his sh*t would stink of mild and cabbage

I think Benayoun will be a hit here and I'll stick to my guns on that one, Arbeloa too I think is a good player, "jack of all trades master of none" Gerrard RB, RM, CM, LM, AM .... ???  Carra RB, CM, LB, CH ... Dont know about that one really when it comes to footballers.
