New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The club would be changed from Liverpool FC to Mourinho FC. It will all be about him, not the club, and I wouldn't be able to take that smugness on a weekly basis. Liverpool would be a soap box for The Mourinho Show. It would be like listening to rap music - "I'm great/How great am I?/Really great/Super great/The best/I am Mourinho/I am Liverpool" etc.

You mean a bit like when Shankly said,

"I was made for Liverpool and Liverpool was made for me"

?

I wasn't even born exactly 50 years ago (Dec 1st to be precise) when Shankly signed for us.
But I do know that a lot of people thought he was arrogant too.

By the way - Rafa should stay, and I think he will.

Yea, forgot about that.

My mate said Hiddink's a knob. So forget him as well.

Cant think of who would be best for the job, but isn't a knob.  :)

Is Capello a knob? If he is, forget him.

He has in the past been seen to lack class but I think a lot will put that down to deflecting attention onto himself rather than his team. He has a proven track record though and im sure if he did come here everyone who might have not liked him before would soon change their tune, especially if it brought us number 19 and more.

But he's a knob Bav.

If you asked me what would I rather have, number 19 and a knob manager
or continually just be a "top four team" but a gweat manager.

Give me the latter, gweat but top four only.

Add silly to the knob category too, don't want a manager who is silly.  :)

Haha
Mourinho is a knob
No question. Cringey, embarrassing and yes, silly. I wouldnt want LFC to have someone like that, you would. Fair enough.
He is a good manager but he couldnt guarantee us anything.
Except that he would be a knob

No manager could guarantee anything. But a proven track record of winning the very prize we crave the most surely makes him a candidate?

btw I don't want to make this seem like I am leading a Mourinho wan.k fest. I would rather see Rafa win it with us any day of the week but if it had to be someone else I would choose Mourinho.

Well I would really hate to see it happen, but if Rafa left, it would definitely have to be Mourinho for me aswell.  He's by far the most qualified manager after Benitez and I don't think he'll stay at Inter for too long anyway.

Actually, talking of "job spec";

Imagine if you had to interview people for a job and your boss came up to you with a CV
and said, "I see you knocked this bloke back even though he was the best qualified - by quite a long way".

To which your reply was "Yea, but he's a knob".

I could imagine your boss would be thinking it was you who was the knob.
