All this talk about transfers got me thinking

These are my best and worst buys :-

Shankly
Best Buy I.StJohn (who else :D )
Worst Buy P.Chisnall (what do you expect from united?)

Paisley
Best Buy K.Dalglish (best ever Liverpool buy)
Worst Buy R.Money (cr*p defender )

Fagan
Best buy J.Molby (great passer, great shot)
Worst buy M.Robinson(I just never liked him)

Dalglish
Best buy J.Barnes (unbelievable skill)
Worst buy D.Burrows (clumsy defender)

Souness
Best buy R.Jones (G.Neville would never have played regularly for England but for Rob's injuries)
Worst buy P.Stewart (could have picked any from about 5)

Evans
Best buy P.Berger (I liked him anyway)
Worst buy S.Dundee (said he was as fast as Owen when he came, looked fast asleep to me)

Houllier
Best buy S.Hyypia (fantastic buy)
Worst buy Diouf (perm any one from 10)

Benitez
Best buy M.Sissoko
Worst buy Josemy

I am sure there are better and worse that I have forgotten but I did spend time thinking.

Best value for money K.KEEGAN
Worst value for money S.Diao

Sissoko a better buy than Xabi?

"Worst value for money" is Diao, yet Diouf was was your worst buy by Houlleir and cost 5 million more? - so how can Diouf be better value for money than Diao?

More thought needed I think s@int.

Stjohn was a great player and my hero as a kid - Keegan was a great player who left Liverpool for the money.

Shanks didnt make many bad buys it was Chisnall or Whitam and at least Whitam scored a few goals.

To be honest Diouf had a good game against France in the World Cup and if that but everytime i saw Diao i thought, WTF?

There is no way anyone saw Diao as a good player he was fu*king awful from day one.

Rob jones could have gone on to be a great player, but for his career to be cut short from injury.

I would add Julian Dicks to any list of bad buys.

RÉD RÉPÚBLÍC I must admit he was right near the top of my list too,but I thought Paul Stewart just edged him.

to be fair saint i`d agree with a lot of that.
maybe yeats or keegan would give st. john a run for his money as shanks best buy.
(acts like ben kenobi) ......richard money, now there`s a name i havent heard in a long long time......
i forgot joe fagan signed molby, that was a cracking signing.
i was never a massive fan of kevin mcdonald, who signed him?
kenny near the end of his tenure of manager made some questionable signings and i think the likes of speedie and jimmy carter were worse than burrows.
kozma is souness`s worst signing probably.
alonso is benitez`s best buy for me, i just cant believe the lad was playing in spain and the likes of madrid or barca never snapped him up. he`s well better than guti or iniesta etc.

Because I'm not too long fan of Liverpool I know not all the Best and Worst buys. But the coach Rafa Benitez have any good transfers. Per example Xabi Alonso. But de Dutch defender Jan Kromkamp was also a great player. But in Liverpool he is not so great as he was on the Netherlands. By AZ he was the best defender of the right over the competition.

yckatbjywtbiastkamb I would have to agree with you Carter was a worse buy than Burrows. I had forgotten all about him. I wonder if Arsenal have forgiven us for selling him to them lol. I didnt see much of K.McDonald (he was always injured) was he so bad ? I think it was Kenny that signed him but it may have been Fagan. and Kozma im ashamed to say I cant even remember (did we buy him from scotland?)

Here's another name that will have some of you holding your heads at  the memory of him... TORBEN PIECHNIK  :no  :sniffle

The amazing thing about this thread is that you've picked one from a list of only five bad signings by souness, SAINT :D  i bet it was a struggle to remember the good signing.:D

Unfortunately for me when Souness made most of his signings I was in full agreement (shows how much I know) I thought Clough and Stewart would both be great buys lol. Only signing of Souness I can remember totally disagreeing with when they were first signed was Mark Walters.
