Its a lottory this season with us, you really dont have any idea what team till play and how they will play. Man City may have had an off day against Chelsea but they also score at home all the time. I dont think this will be a narrow 1-0 win. If we are to win there we will need to score a few and make sure our defence is solid. Im not sure if Agger is ready but I say throw him back in anyway. Id go with

                      Reina

Arbeloa                     Carra                Agger              Riise

Babel                        Gerrad              Masch              Kewell

                              Torres              Kuyt

I know Kuyt is a bit slow but he is physical and we will need a good mix of compsure and rough tactics against Man City.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Anelka preferably. Still absolute class and apparently for sale for around £10m.

As for the game, we'll need to up it and we will.

The better the opposition the better we seem to play so I don't think we wil see the level of performance we saw against Derby.

I'm going for 0-0 :D

Before you shower condemnation I'd like you to look at the Newkit Prediction table before commenting :D

If whoever updates the games had scored the Chelsea/Blackburn fixture on the 23rd instead of leaving it out I'd have been TOP for Christmas ! :p

This will be a very cagey game. Sven has them playing very well, and Lpool will need to counter them away.

A narrow 4-5-1. We can beat them, as long as Voronin or Kuyt dont start. If so we may as well be playing with 10 men..imo

I think Lpool should play Torres as the lone striker with gerrard in att mid supporting.

Going for a 1-0 to Lpool. A long overdue Riise thunderbolt!!

I like that team Bermenstein, but I'd replace Risse with Kewell.

Although anything other than a win will put a major dent in the title race...i think a draw might be a satisfactory result.

Man city have players who can overrun our midfield (esp if rafa starts with a gerrard & alonso combo).

And with Petrov and Eleamo...they have 2 players who are capable of running rings around our defence.

So hopefullly rafa goes with a balanced team-lineup (yeah..rotation is not the problem....picking a balanced team line-up is).

                   Reina
  Finnan   Carra    Hyppia   Riise
  Benayoun   Gerrard  Mash  Kewell
             Babel
                         Torres

Our strongest and most balanced team considering agger and crouch are out.

This might work too....

                     Reina
  Arbeloa   Carra    Hyppia   Riise
  Benayoun   Alonso  Mash  Kewell
             Gerrard
                         Torres

ie....as long as Kuyt and Voronin don't start ....and no babel, riise or auerlio as wingers...we should be able to do fine. (ie...goaless draw)

Mascha HAS to start.

                                     Reina

              Finnan    Carragher    Hyypia    Arbeloa

               Babel      Gerrard    Mashca       Riise

                             Kewell   Torres

Riise was poor again against Derby, but for this game I wouldnt play too many 'flair' players in midfield. Riise is certainly more defence minded and i think that extra bit of steel in the midfiled may help us get a foothold on the game. But going forward down the left will be prett non-exsistant, having Kewell uptop, he could pull wide left and give the wing and Torres a bit of 'savy' in support. But definately Mascha has to start this one for me, its paramount  for me if we want to win.

Buy another striker please Rafa

I can feel the desperation in your plea  :D

I agree with your line up saint... but somehow I don't see rafa playing babel as a striker...

as for the creative second striker... Rafael van der Vaart from Hamburg is a very good choice IMO... if you buy dutch buy someone with 'van' in their names  :D

van nisterrooy = great player , van persie = getting there , van de vart = great for hamburg and would not cost much if we sign him , 10 to 12 mill
