All in all several posters I respect told about a bad game, and I expected a bad game. That's why it surprised me a bit positively.
In the first half we were far superior to Everton. So much better we were, that our main flaw was not to kill the game. That could have costed us, because in a derby any thing can happen. Other than that, I saw the kind of football I wanted to see, we had a lot of rigour defending, should we had that rigour in other games we'd have more points now.
We pressed better, and we reached the ball earlier. Not a surprise Everton got two yellows in their midfield because they were a step behind all the time.
Alonso made an awful game against Manchester and I saw recovered his game against Everton, especially without the ball, and further than the obvious tackle he won to Yakubu (or something) in the first goal. Of course, he lost a ball in min 36 that costed a counterattack and that will be enough to get the usual "below par" criticism he gets, but he was definitely better than against Manchester.
MOM was Gerrard, and in the first half he excelled. He got a lot of stick against Manchester, but a footballer depends a lot in the team. The more defensive rigour brougt more posession and Gerrard was activated in zones where he makes more danger. If you lose the ball as soon as you get it, then you hardly can excell in a position like Gerrard's. Let alone with 10 men.
Torres scored yet another goal, those are the chances that he gets a goal this season, and he sent it to row Z last season. It must be the red shirt or something, but I'm chuffed

Good news, we looked solid again. Bad news, we should have killed the game and we didn't. Important news: A derby is won, and that's all that matters.
