To be fair to Howard Webb, it was a very very hard game for him. Holland were lucky to only have the one player sent off. Van Bommel is an absolute thug of a player, cant believe he got off so lightly through the whole tournament.

Hasn't done Liverpool any favours in at least 2 seasons now.

A few games in the championship might be needed.

Like to see anyone try and ref that game. both teams were disgraceful, Dutch hatchet men and Spanish play-acters made for an impossible match from a referee's point of view. Apart from the obvious foul on Elias I thought Webb handled it fairly well.

I ref´d rugby for a few seasons for the Liverpool Society and rugby refs do not suffer this kind of game/treatment.

After 20 minutes Webb should have stopped the game and called the 2 captains, read them the riot act and said the next offender of either a theatrical over reaction or over aggressive foul would be straight off.

One red and 14 yellows? In a world cup final?  Absolute disgrace. Sounds more like the Somme.

If Kuyt hadn't played that final it would have been easier for Spain. Good work Kuyt lad, very sacrificed as always in this club.

Sure.  Reina and the lads were merely on the sangria whereas Dirk and his posse probably sparked up quite a few spliffs during the open top canal boat ride.  :D

I think everyone played their part, Holland for deciding to play spoiling tactics which involved some bad tackles, Spain for trying to make most of that and get players sent off, and to some degree the ref who could have done a little more to try and control the game, a word with captains, apply letter of law when he had to etc. I sympathise most with the ref trying to control the game, for his part he did what he thought was right in trying to keep players on the pitch. Was it his fault the players decided to make it so difficult for him and so there were silly numbers of yellow cards?!?

I think both sides should have been disqualified and the trophy awarded to Germany

I read in Marca yesterday that Benitez wants Kuyt at Inter...

But Liverpool is well reluctant to let him go. Have you heard anything?

Would you let Dirk go for what price? (Provided the money would be used for another player)

I would sell if he gave us 10-12 million personally.

He is a decent player that works hard and to be fair chips in with some vital goals.

But he isnt the most fluent of attacking players and has a poor touch, no pace and cant really beat a man for a right sided player.

He is also around 30 isnt he ?

I think some of our better performances towards the end of the season where when Maxi came in and even though he isnt the quickest and doesnt appear your tricky winger. He is far better in posession and appears to pick the right pass and keep attacks moving far better than Kuyt for me.

But i wouldnt sell Dirk unless we received the 10-12 i stated at the start of my post.

I actualy wouldnt sell him .we need players like Dirk here at the mo, players who will play for the red shirt, and not what is in the bank, One thing you can say about Dirk ok he is not the brightest tool in the box but he will fight and always give you 100 per cent,

And if how ever a bid is put in i would not accept anything less than 15 million, But tbh im not worried about Dirk going hes already come out and said he wasnts to play for us ,he loves us ,and thatll do for me,

Its just a shame that a couple more havnt followed his example and said yes we will fight , Little tip for Roy here if you wanna talk to Javier borrow Insuas phone , he will think it him calling and answer it , you gotta get crafty Roy lad :;):
