He isn't 'great' going forward but does chip in with assists and goals now and again and he tracks back a lot. In the modern game he is perfect for a wide role.. like that Muller too..

He only just signed a new contract a few years ago so hopefully he wants to stick it out.

Well it's a shame he doesn't agree with me if he doesn't, but there you are. I'd be surprised if he doesn't think Dirks contribution in terms of nullyfying the opposition right back isn't significant, and equally I'd be surprised if he thinks Dirk is amongst the most technically gifted of the Dutch players.

Cant believe some of the critisim that Dirk has warrented here joke or no joke , he has been outstanding one of Hollands best players in the tournament, he derserves all the accolades and repect he is warrented because he derderves it

Those qualities REALLY come to the fore when you've got a handful of skillful, intelligent players playing around him, particularly as they also free up space for him to play. Put him in a side (as was the case for much of last year) with say, Masch and Lucas in the middle and Carra at RB and suddenly his weaknesses as a player really come to the fore.

I blow hot and cold on Deadly but i'd be gutted if he follows Rafa to Inter (which would not surprise me at all) and hopefully Hodgson can get the best out of him.

I see the newkit "lets forget what he's actually written and have a go at we think he might of written" tendency is still going strong. I say that Dirk balances the Dutch team in terms of his work ethic, that he negates the opposition right back, and that he might just be one of our most important players next season, but I'm having a pop. Apparantly though Cruyf disagrees with me Dirk is the most technical player in the team or one of them, he doesn't balance the team with his work ethic and he doesn't negate the opposition right back. Where did he say this stuff by the way, I'd like to see that interview?

They way you lot go on about him as if we'd only be allowed to field 10 men if we sold him. Somebody with more pace, better ability to control the ball, pass and beat a man and someone with a more intelligent footballing brain would replace him in the starting XI.

I think he's terrible and a waste of a lot of energy to be honest. Forget the stats; how many times last season were we breaking forward with pace only for his terrible control and/or lack of pace to break the whole move down. Sorry but I believe footballers should have more about them than just a willingness to work hard. Our right winger should have the guile to glide past players and create goal scoring opportunities at will; not work hard tracking back and chipping the ball in the air everytime it comes to him and then kneeing it and 10 minutes later still trying to figure out where it is.

Shame you can't see beyond the end of your nose or through some hatred of Kuyt because if you truly believe all he does is work hard then you truly are clueless, or simply refusing to register what he does during games.

And you clearly missed his assist in the last dutch game, but then it can't have happened because he never controls the ball and therefore must have lost possession just before he somehow crossed it. He didn't beat the defender for pace either, but he didn't need to, yet some seem to talk of that as if it is the be all and end all of playing out wide, or perhaps it's just Kuyt will never be quick and because that is his only real weakness then that is what the bashers have to focus on since noone can argue he is quick

I guess the dutch coach must be an idiot, what with the dutch persisting with Kuyt and as a consequence only reaching the final ffs
