He says that because he's been injured for three months (you don't select a player unless they are sufficiently fit to play) he's not well positioned to demand first team football right away, but that once he's regained full fitness, he would then expect to be starting games. He goes on to say that if, having gained full fitness, he still isn't a starter then he would see no reason to remain at the club. That condition hasn't been met because he's only just returned to first team action. Ergo, he doesn't "want out" now. What I would accept, however, is that simply by raising the point he is implicitly expressing concern about his future. In other words, if he felt confident of getting regular first team football then he wouldn't have made those comments.
For me, he should be starting ahead of Skrtel or Kyrgiakos as a minumum, but at this point in time that says more about the low standard of competition in the heart of our defence than it is does about Agger. He'll still got some way to go in order to prove his fitness and that he's worthy of a regular place in the side.

Thank you .... but I am well aware of how it reads ,but I just feel it speaks volumes when one of our class players is citing a lack of first team opportunities as a probable reason for him to leave the club he loves .....especially when you look at the quality of players that stand before him in the pecking order .... I mean even when the lad was fit ,he was left frustratingly kicking his heels on the bench .... every man and his proverbial dog knows the lads qualities and the impetus he can give to the team ,yet the manager remains oblivious ....and if the team selections being bandied about are to be believed he is not in the first eleven for Blackburn away ...now if he is injured then his absence is explainable ,but if the lad is fit, then it is yet another sad indictment of his strained relationship with the manager ..............

The question is whether either of them willactually retain their places for Blackburn. I won't hold my breath. It just goes to show though that any thought of letting Agger go is pure madness. He's the best footballing centre half in the league for me when fit.

Its got more to do with Roy having a very narrow view of what a defender should be/do.
Sadly with his injury problems we might have to replace him anyway.

Same goes to Skrtel ... but Agger played much better Skrtel ... why sell a better player ...

Daniel Agger has warned that he will leave Liverpool if he is not receiving regular first-team football.
Injury problems have plagued the Denmark international's Anfield career since joining from Brondby five years ago and was recently the subject of claims that the Reds had offered him to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg - claims which manager Roy Hodgson strenuously denied.
Agger, 26, played 89 minutes of Liverpool's win over Bolton on Saturday - his first start since September last year - but has hinted that his future could lie elsewhere if he continues to be overlooked for a starting place once he regains full fitness.
‘If I’m not playing in the Liverpool team on a regular basis, then I am ready to move on,’ he said.
"I have only just returned from three months out injured, so I am in no position, at the moment, to say I must be in the side for every game.
"But once I have made a few appearances and regained full fitness, I would expect to be starting games. If I’m not playing, I can’t see a reason for staying."
Juventus lead a host of European clubs looking at Agger, who deputised at left-back on several occasions last season, in the hope that a deal can be brokered despite the central defender's previous insistence that he would not leave until his current four-year deal expired.
No shortage of offers from the top teams in Europe ....Juventus are just merely the first to express an interest .... nice one Roy yet another class player wants out because of your knack for keeping quality players out of the team

I like Agger but it's a bit out of order, having been injured consistently for a number of weeks/months, to come out now and issue an ultimatum to the manager that if he doesn't play he will walk....!![]()
There is every chance he will be injured again soon enough anyway
