New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Steve McClaren is another ridiculous suggestion that has a veneer of credibility to it. He's a c.... and he fecked up the England job a treat but you can't knock what he's done with FC Twente.

McLish is a very good manager and i would be happy to see him given a chance here.

Jose Mourinho will only return to England when the Man utd job comes up and will NEVER come to liverpool

FACT

What about Avram Grant?

what about him

He has the know you know and he knows people who can get you stuff

It's often been bandied about that every other "good" manager available or interested in the job will require an exorbitant amount of cash to re-build the squad he wants. So, logically, seeing as we're so skint....... we need the kind of manager who can squeeze every last penny out of a tight budget and still be able to shift through the mud for a fair few rough diamonds.

It'll never happen as the ties to his current club are way too strong. A club who've managed to build their own larger stadium without foreign investmest and without having to sell their souls. A club who repeatedly spends pennies in the transfer market and makes a bundle by selling off their assets at massive profits. A club who continue to challenge almost every year, even with the loss of said assets..... including captains and star strikers.

All because of the ability of their manager to repeatedly find cheap, young talent.... thus enabling the club to not be held to ransom on the monthly wage bill. That is exactly what we need right now, given our financial fiasco.

No disrespect to Ged..... but to me, we got the wrong frog a decade or so ago.

Mourhino would be the best but Van Basten would be good. Somone who speaks english and knows how to drive players on.

Got back from Wembly and all i can say is Tottenham's fans are so bad its not even funny and Pompey's fans are the best matchday fans in the World.

Purslow has held talks with Mark Hughes if he comes in thats the end for me.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

And we obviously have a long way to fall, don't we?

Like 6th to maybe 7th? Not like we are first position right now.

By the way, my choice would be Laurent Blanc (and if any of you anti-manc :censored: complain because of 2 seasons at Trafford, I will be fully convinced you care more about hating MUFC than supporting LFC.)

He has trained and coached that Bordeaux team to play entertaining football and has one medal, that no Liverpool manager/coach has and that is a World Cup Winners Medal.

Really? You'd stop following the team because of a manager?

I wouldnt want him, he is not the calibre of manager that we should be looking for.
But i dont think he is sh!t either. He done a very good job at Blackburn and a decent one with Wales as well.

Ben - we are not the calibre of team that most top managers are looking for. need to aim at the level we are at - mid table.
