i hope he stays but if he is :censored: about then like any player i,d want him out

skittles is class and will only get better

i think thats unfair, he hasnt really had chance to get back to his best and i reckon once he is injury free he will soon show his class again

him and skrtel are the future

I agree , he and skrtel is the future . Losing him is a BIG NO !! .

If Agger was playing for another EPL team , would we be interested in signing him ?

I agree they are the future but I don't think they're gonna hang around long enough between them for Carra to get old(er)

I agree. I have more faith in the Dannish than in Skrtel, but I definitely think we must insist in the progress of those two players.

I read in the rumour mill that Agger is about to sign a new contract and I hope it's true.

I still think some people are giving too much stick to Agger without really knowing enough about the situation (I'm not saying I know it all but I try to concentrate solely on his actual comments and not all the speculations in the papers and on the web). What he himself has actually said is that he would like to stay at the club as he feels very well here, and he has said so for a long time. Back in november the club never came back to him with an offer as promised though (which you can read somewhere further back in this thread), and since then he hasn't been playing that much, which might explain why he isn't exactly in a hurry to sign a new deal (this last part is just me guessing though). But all these comments about him being greedy and a primadonna are way over the top imo. The lad just wants to play some football, and preferebly he wants to play for LFC.

As I happen to rate him very highly, I hope the rumours about him signing a new contract by the end of the week are true, as they would put an end to all the speculation and most importantly keep him a part of the club's future.

"I can only say that Simon Kjaer is not on our agenda at the moment," the former Valencia boss told Stadionews24.

"I can say that if Daniel Agger were to leave, we are not planning to bring him as a replacement."

These quotes are from Rafa. I would have preffered to read that we don't plan to sign anyone for CB because nobody will leave. :(

I hope the rumours that Agger will eventually sign are true.

Maybe he will sign soon. Gerrard and Kuyt only signed theirs recently.. PLus Torres' contract is probably ahead in the pecking order although it may make more sense to get Aggers done sooner.

Tell me one other defender in the league who can bring the ball out with such assurance from the back and also shoot like that?

What's happening with his contract? There was some rumors that he was going to sign soon and that was last week I think.

Anyway fantastic goal for him today. It was identical to his first goal he scored for us against West Ham a few years ago. Also at the Kop end incidentally. Take a look.

Agger West Ham

DANIEL AGGER WAITS ON DEAL
Liverpool defender stalls as Juventus and AC Milan wait

By CHRIS BASCOMBE, 11/04/2009

DANIEL AGGER says he is no nearer to securing his Liverpool future, despite holding contract talks with boss Rafa Benitez.

The defender, 24, says the ball is still firmly in the club's court if they want to keep him amid interest from AC Milan and Juventus.

Negotiations have begun to extend Agger's current deal, which runs out in 18 months, and double his £30,000-a-week salary. Benitez is anxious for a swift resolution but Agger still has some issues.

The Danish international said: "In my heart I hope I will still be at Liverpool next season but I don't know. We are talking and I've said I want to stay but there are two parts to this. You will have to ask the club what the issue is.

"It's wrong to say my agent met any other clubs. There were a lot of people guessing about my future. It's annoying - but I've confidence in myself, so I look at the talks with positive eyes. It's important that the manager says good things about me but the most important things he tells me are when I look into his eyes, not when he says things in the newspapers."

Agger, who got a rare start and scored in yesterday's win over Blackburn, added: "I'm at the stage where I need to play. It's been frustrating but I relish the challenge of forcing my way back into the side"

Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel are ahead of Agger in the centre-half pecking order. But the Dane's attacking qualities may tempt Benitez to thrust him into Tuesday's Champions League quarter- final second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Agger said: "Have we given up on the Champions League? Don't be stupid. If they can win 3-1 at Liverpool we can do the same at Chelsea - but we'll need some early goals."   :;):

Get him signed up fast yanks!

Agger and Skrtel are both great defenders, we are a little spoilt for choice  :upside:

Skrtel is probably better defensively and has better judgement in his tackles, but he does fall asleep a lot during set pieces and isnt fantastic at going forward.

Agger has a nice eye for a goal and is good at moving the ball forward but isnt as strong defensively.

I would much rather prefer Agger to be honest because he really helps our midfielders get forward and he is different from any other defender  :)  (no im not danish)

The lad is an enigma...... mid week I hate the cúnt, but saturday lunchtime I´m lifting my glass to the lad.

I guess until he commits to LFC I´m not going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
