DIRK KUYT - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thread needs renaming mods, "Dirk Kuyt - official bashing thread"  :no Ban anyone who dares to praise him for good performances, although some will argue he never puts any in (question whether they ever watch the games with eyes or mind open)

To be fair......kuyt did well yesterday...especially once we went down to 10 men.

Our right flank was so solid that di maria (this is the type of wingers we should aspire to sign IMO) had no choice but to attack down our left flank.

Kuyt looks pretty good if the other team attacks us..cos he makes it hard for the other teams wingers and fullbacks.

But when the other team parks the bus.....there's where his limitations surface.

Thought he had a typically hard working game yesterday and put through Torres for our best chance. He always gives 100% and whether you love or loathe him you can't take that away from him. Personally, I would prefer a right midielder with more pace who can beat players, get to the byline and create more opportunities for the number nine.

Kuyt was excellent last night, our best player by a distance.

yes kuyt, a thorough-bred match winner.
his touch, intelligence, pace, acceleration, creativity, dribbling and flair were all evident in his match winning performance as usual.
we've only won it 5 times

When Kuyt plays like garbage which he does most of the time it is almost tabu mentioning anything in the thread and as soon as Kuyt has 1! good game the thread is filled with praise for our "hard worker".

The truth is he has been shi*** for around 80% of the season and had a purple patch in januari-februari with a few good games here and there before and after.

The rest of the time he has been awful. fact.

Yes, he was actually good yesterday, but that doesn't make him good enough as he has been ***** the previous 10.

Torres will get the praise, but my man of the match against Benfica was Kuyt.

A goal, a brilliant assist and beat his man a few times.

Seemed like something was in the air.... even Lucas looked brazilian!

Well I've been one of his critics over the years, but I thought he was man of the match last night marginally over Gerrard, Torres and Carragher. Not only did he have an excellent match, he did it against IMHO Benfica's best player on the night. More than once that curly headed fecker (Ruiz or something?) made him look like a mug, but Kuyt didn't let his head drop. His tenacity set the tone for the evening, and performaces such as his were exactly what were needed against a technically much superior team.

On the subject of their left back, I'd have him all day long (and I think they said he's normally a centre half). Excellent performce from him.

I think if we look at his best performances they are in Europe. Maybe he is best suited to these type of games and should be used sparingly in PL games?

I thought he was outstanding in the first half mate. Not sure if it was him that Kuyt ripped apart in the second half though ? (ok ripped apart is a bit of an exaggeration :D )
