As for better managers out there than rafa - yes there is better managers but all in secure jobs they  are comfy with plus the odd one like maureen who IMO wouldn't touch us in our current situation and has also got his eyes on the manc job in England or one of the big two in Spain . Both more attractive positions for him .

Keegan spent 10 years playing golf, came back and took the prem by storm coming closer to winning the league than Rafa has with NEWCASTLE!

Yeah Dalglish has been in a time capsule and won't have a clue what has been happening in football the last few years , while people like you  have been studying it meticulously

No one would succeed at Coventry and Leeds, give him a decent team to muck about with

And keegan won what exactly for Newcastle man city and before that fulham ? Let's not also forget keegan blew millions buying people left right and centre and still didn't win a single thing. Also I'm pretty sure kenny came back he stated he had spent the years being a fan and nothing else and once a game was over forgetting about football and just enjoying his life and concentrating on helping his wives charity .

Poor football, won nothing for four years, wasted millions in the transfer market, knocked out of cups by minor teams, struggling in the league, falls out with everyone...... where the feck are we going to get a better manager than that

Well, true

But that doesn't mean a new manager must be a "proven" world beater as imo it would a waste paying loads of cash on a "top" manager when

a) he will have little resources to work with
b) and we are short on cash from the start

Every scenario is different and I could argue Gollum has done a better job than Mourinho since he hasn't had a set table and just spent a fortune but instead has had to work hard with the scarce resources he has had.

Getting silly in here now. Well, it has been past few weeks. Some utter sh*te being written on this page alone, and some of you lot need to pull your head from your holes and stop living in the f*cking past.

Still dropping names? How longs that been now? Two, maybe three years of dropping names of manager who you want to take over for us? Rafa's on a five year contract. Strap your seatbelt in and adjust yourself. Get used to it, because that's how long he could potentially be here for.

I've been thinking about this since I posted that I thought  the time had come to make a change. I don't know how  many managers would put up with the cr**p Rafa has had to put up with , with our 2 cretinous owners. It's not just managing the team ,it's managing the fans expectations and at the same time dealing with owners who DO NOT have a clue, and a media who constantly snipe at him and belittle him. Then there's Fergie and his little gang , and we all know who they are ,who stick the boot in whenever they can.
Now I'm not saying that Rafa hasn't made mistakes , 'cos we all know he has, but by God he's had an awful lot to put up with. I know he's paid a lot of money , but in all honesty how many top managers would stay as long as he has.
What we've needed during this period of turmoil was continuity and Rafa has given us that. Where would we be if we'd had another manager who jacked it in 'cos he couldn't cope with the pressures , we'd have maybe had 2 or 3 managers by now and who knows where we'd be now.
I'm not saying Rafa should not go at the end of the season but I certainly don't think the path ahead is going to be easy no matter who is the manager. Our biggest problem is our owners and the position they have put us in. I have a feeling that one day, when the truth is told we may all be in for a shock at how bad things really were.

The thread title explains why people are dropping names mate. Its your post that is out of place in this thread  :D

Theres is no doubt he'd love to be our manager... he loves our mystique,  history, the atmosphere of the ground.."I felt the power of Anfield, it was magnificent" (following the Garcia 1-0 in 2005), passion, the banter we generate..REAL club unlike plastic chelsea... he knows he'd be idolised.. (by the way Shanks... "My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in", "there are only two teams in Liverpool.." .......was cocky as hell)

Mourinho is perfect for us....hes a winner... but its an open secret that he has ensured that his advisors have been kept in the loop with our financial position, and he'd only take over if he had money to spend and we were able to compete. Mourinho wants to win...and his requirement is that he has the platform to do so.

The only FACT is that your post is entirely speculative in the same way this entire thread is speculative.

Good point about Shankly and his arrogance though mate.

Thats cold hard fact... and has not once been denied by official sources within Mourinhos camp. He will only take us over if he had serious money to spend to be competitive. He does not want to finish a brave second, hes an out and out winner.

hasn't been denied, hasn't been confirmed. Does not make it fact.
