New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ben Patrick » Wed Mar 24, 2010 10:44 pm

the noone would want the job is one that fans have come up with just to suit there argument - after backing Rafa has been so difficult for them this season.
I have said that for a long time, and i actually think there are many that IF they actually believe what they are saying...have a far lower opionion of our club and its standing than i do.

You assume that everybody else in the football world has demonized our owners in the same way that we have, that they hold the same low opinions as the fans. I think that is VERY unlikely.

City 2-0 down!!!

Isnt there already a post in the maureen love in that says he wouldnt come to us becuase of the owners war with each other ??

I can't recall mate. It doesn't exactly mean or prove anything though does. Until a job is actually offered what does a throwaway comment to the press (if he did actually say that) tell us.

Well it pretty much ties in with the real world and the history of maureen .

Maureen may well be offered various jobs this summer if he had to choose between say us, man city or madrid which do you think he would pick

Don't get ya knicknacks in a twist mate, you're being a bit pedantic. You have said no one half decent will want the job, you poured cold water on most of the suggestions in this thread. You said Wenger wouldn't want it, i agree it's a nonsensical notion but then I don't think anyone actually put his name forward (they just listed their preferences from the EPL), You said Mancini wouldn't want it, I agree, he's got his dream job. But then you also stated (as fact it seems) that Maureen would never do it, you said to O'neil - 'Never' and Hodgson, 'he's got a nice cushy number, probably not'.

I have to admit, If O'neil and Hodgson wouldn't fancy the job then we really are down the sh...i....t....t...er, and head first at that.

He knew himself he was goign to leave Porto that summer with both Chelsea and Liverpool wanting him . If the lure of Liverpool is as strong as you both suggest why didnt he say yes i will come to you during the summer instead of Chelsea ? Because the lure of the money available at Chelsea was too good to turn down . He even stated that the lure of being able to model a team of his own was what helped him go to Chelsea (ie buy any player he wanted) so that was stronger than lure of managing Liverpool .

No mate, before the match between the mancs and Porto , Liverpool asked to talk to him. He said no AFTER the game when Porto went through.

Whether Liverpool ever spoke to him again I have no idea. I know that before he went to Chelsea he said that he would PREFER LIVERPOOL, but I have no idea if it was ever mentioned again by Liverpool.

Presumably once having been turned down, Liverpool looked elsewhere and found Benitez.

If things stay as as they with as far as money goes, I think City. But I don't think City will be looking for a new manager in the summer. Mancini has been in the job 5 minutes. I think if City wanted Maureen, if he was the man they really wanted they would have gone for him in mid-season. They're not exactly short of the compo money are they? They doesn't mean that Maureen wouldn't want the LFC job.

What reason would any of them come to us

Behave yourself Benny, O'neil wouldn't come if he was offered the job? what have you based that on? Are you suggesting that Villa will have triple our transfer budget next season or something to that effect. I can't understand so many of you painting this picture of LFC as some sort of busted flush that no half-decent manager would look twice at. It's over-dramatic and it's complete bol.l.ox in my opinion.

Since our transfer budget will be zero in the summer anything more than that would be infinitly more or?

O'Neill has been well backed these past seasons by Lerner, an owner who at least invest in his team. O'neill has been able to shape the team and improve it surely but slowly and are looking at finishing above us this season.

Have you looked at the state of this club at the moment?
Record debt, not a single penny in the transfer kitty, lost revenues from no CL football next season and more pressure to pay the interest on the loans taken. Not to mention the 16 million to pay of Rafa. Add to that owners who treats the club
like any business and just want to milk money out of the club.
And no stadium in sight for at least 8 years.

And immense pressure from fans to relive the past since they demand miracles=(able to fight with teams with a heck of alot more resoruces)

So let me get this straght. Mourinho wants around 10 million to go to RM and still people think he would come here.

With our owners....

The ignorance is stunning... MONEY TALKS!

Also, once the new rules come in and clubs have to be financially regulated Citeh will be in the same boat as everyone else and wont be able to buy anyone they can persuade to join them.

I think Mourinho wants to prove he can build a dynasty and where will he get a better chance than with us. If he wants huge wages he will go to Madrid/Citeh , if he wants to build something he will come to us.(If given the option)

So if I understand this correctly, the LFC job is 4m a year and todays headline is 'Mourinho to Real Former Chelsea boss is tempted for 10m a year' and he already earns 8m at Milan.

Why would Mourinho even consider LFC?

Wouldnt leave Inter while they have a chance to win CL . Like you say the money and owner situation is exactly the reason why he would go to city
