I also answered the suggestion that because he starts regularly, Kuyt is somehow deemed a good enough player - I missed the reply to my question about Nicky Tanner...
Kuyt's touch is poor, he slows attacks down with his "running in treacle" pace, he's either a striker who often looks terrified to shoot or a right winger who doesnt have the craft or guile to beat a man.
Yes he works his off and runs all day and I admire that - I bet he can't believe his luck playing for our great club. I'd be happier if he worked slightly less hard and was slightly more technically gifted and talented as a footballer.
But he isn't, so instead of being allowed to criticise, we have to lower the bar of what's acceptable standard at LFC, and get blinkered idiots like you telling us that "working hard" is suddenly enough to justify a starting place in the team.
Oh, and despite all this, when I'm at the game, Kuyt, like the rest of the team, gets my 110% backing DESPITE all these blatant deficiencies, so telling me to get behind the team by posting on an internet messageboard seems a bit of a stupid suggestion... and par for the course apparently.
Or does he post on here too?
running in treacle. scared to shoot. can't beat a man.
every one of those statements is false. and you have the cheek to call me a blinkered idiot. You also will go to the ground and get behind the player only to come onto message boards like this and cry and whinge like a baby. That makes you two faced. And how can you possibly compare a defender from 15 odd years ago to a forward player of today? Cause he was a poor player? He was moved on because of that, as were the rest of that medicore back line. Rafa has no plans to move on Kuyt, Why? because he knows hes a good player from working with him every day, as do his team mates. So if your gonna spout opinionated garbage and drop little passive-aggressive insults why dont you at least give practical and specific examples so you at least have a shred of clout. Otherwise go back to supporting whoever it was you follwed pre May 2005

Kuyt can score a hat trick and set up three more in a 6 nil romp and some people will still pick out a miss placed pass or bad first touch . quite sad really

When that happens, I'll reconsider my opinion and openly declare my love for him.
I am safe in the knowledge I will never have to do that.

the ones supporting kuyt never seem to find any fault with him. they make him seem as if he's the perfect footballer. and when faults are found against him the same old arguments come up
1) he works hard
2) if not for his goal we wouldnt be/won the ECL
quite sad really.
maypaxvobiscum wrote:he is important but he is limited. i find it impossible that you cant find faults with him. he does get credit and im sure there was instances where even PeeWee gave him credit. put it this way, we could do better then kuyt. good squad man. not regular starter unless its games where u have to grind out results like against bolton or everscum.

Thats total rubbish - people defending kuyt know his limitations and accept it and even point it out - you show me where anyone has said he is a perfect footballer ? you show me where people have said he is world class ?
People slag of kuyt no matter what he does and people feel the need to defend him cause they can see what he brings to the team just like the liverpool manager can see it , Torres Gerrard Carra can see it , the Dutch national manager can see it - are they all wrong ?
yes he does work hard and shows passion something others could learn from - but he also creates goals and scores goals and defends when needed and provides an outlet, he keeps possesion and plays it simple when required. he may not have blinding pace and ability to get past people but where has that ever got pennant ?

I admire Kuyt's work and defend him mainly because the sh!t aimed at him from quarters of this forum is unjustified. He should score more, do better and is as blameworthy as others in some games. But to suggest he is the worst player on the pitch every game lacks credibility, to such an extent the Kuyt bashers seriously lack any full-stop.

Agreed, one such quote which sums this up:I admire Kuyt's work and defend him mainly because the sh!t aimed at him from quarters of this forum is unjustified. GYBS wrote:Ok he didnt start the last game but still in the squad of 22 (out of how many thousand dutch footballers )and remind me of all the games during the euros ? Did he not start every single match there scoring and setting up goals for them ?
Well the If so and so argument is quite good tbh cause these guys actually work with the player day in day out and are better placed to judge said player than both you or me arent they ?or is your opinion more correct than that of professional footballers, team mates, world class managers
