When you see the likes of Lynd's video clip about the Michael Shields chanting, it makes you realise that though I am one of it's harshest critics, there are some parts of the OOTer debate which are absolutely on the money. How can ssomebody not from Liverpool possibly comprehend that type of mindless behaviour by people whose brothers and fathers in many cases support the team they are chanting about?
Bitters is an apt name because though I don't like Chelsea and Manchester United with something approaching a passion, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy what has happend to Michael Shields and nor for that matter the guy who was assaulted in a foreign land. I can totally understand the local people wanting to gain "bragging rights" over these sort of people, but when you see how football can twist and pervert the minds of some people you (or I definately) find yourself wondering if the game can really be that important.
