Well you are the one talking about bringing in someon who can do just as good a job - Agger is a World Class Cb - who can we attract to the club that is as good. its easy to say lets take the money and buy a replacement - we did that with Xabi and Torres .

There are bette cbs out there - none we can get though

He's class but when you factor in his age, injury record to date as well as our apparent unwillingness to spend big it makes more sense to use that money to fund 2 other players.

It doesn't make sense to sell top class players and bring in cheaper alternatives.

City and Barce want him for a reason.

If we are going to negotiate, how about trying to get Micah Richards included as part of the deal? Always thought he could be a monster of a player for us.

Glad to see Agger starting tonight.

Anyway, today's rumor has it that the offer is 23m. plus Adam Johnson on loan.
Maybe if they put in Aguero in that offer we might want to think about it.

What he said was:

"It's very important [to keep him], he's a top player, he's been here for seven years now, he's one of the fans' favourites," the 33 year-old told ESPN.

"He shows passion and commitment every time he plays. It might be one of those situations where it's not in Daniel's hands, and it's up to the owners at the end of the day.

"The manager has gone on record and said that every player has got his price, so we'll have to wait and see, but of course if you ask me I want him to stay. I want all our best players to stay."

Seems like Agger wanting to stay and the manager wanting to sell from what Gerrard is saying. Would be very disappointed if thats the case.

"There’s nothing new to add. You can see tonight he’s important to me and how I like to play,” Rodgers told reporters.

"I like to have a playmaker in behind and Daniel, this is his game, building from behind, stepping in with the ball and making passes. For me there’s no update because we don’t want to sell him.

"He’s a player who’s very important for me and will remain that way."

Let's hope so. Aside from perhaps Suarez, I don't think there is any other player I'd like to see us sell less.

I honestly don't know why he tags the journos along, one minute he's implying Agger could be sold if the price is right and then he states he doesn't want to sell him. He needs to stop doing so much fecking talking and feeding those journos half @rsed theories all the time. He's too media friendly.

it`s not in daniel`s hands? i thought agger wanted to go, that sounds like the club are selling him against his will!
that is f##king outrageous if we essentially cash in on one of our best players when he wants to stay.
why are we selling agger? to raise the funds to bring in someone else nowhere near as good?
that is the epitome of a selling club.

Selling Reina would send out immensely negative signals.

just because Man CIty have made a bid and Barca have shown an interest doesn't mean we ARE selling.
if City come back with a silly bid of course we should accept but if they don't he will stay.
