Let's face it even Kuyt isn't my idea of a wide player anyway.
I would put Johnson there myself and stick Kelly at right back - that said possibly not ideal against the Mancs.

Johnson is a not a right mid and never will be , being a pacy attacking right back doesnt automatically turn you into a good right mid .

You may be right, but we have no one else who can beat a man on the right hand side. Johnson can, whether it would work I don't know but we are not exactly blessed with other 'natural' options.
You could say the same about Kuyt, Maxi and Cole really.

Johnson doesnt really beat men at will as well mate - he capatalises the space left to him by the right mid and attacks the left back at pace coming onto the ball - at right mid he wouldnt have that space and wouldnt be running onto the ball he then cant beat the man from a standing start .

ok so we need to agree on something then mate - we are fecked!
Maxi is probably our best bet against the Mancs anyway.

I'm glad someone else doesn't rate Maxi Rodriguez. What has he done in a Liverpool shirt so far? Absolutely fu.ck all squared is the answer. He's been decidedly average. Can't beat a man, can't score goals, can't remember him setting too many goals up - so why do people still rate him? It's been a long time since he produced his best for Athletico even before he came here. And before someone pipes up - 'ah but he does the simple things well, keeps the ball moving and is a good link player'... he doesn't do that either, simple as that. He's the definition of passenger.
I'd sooner play Babel on the right. Of the three positiuons we've played him in - up front, wide left and wide right, the run of games he played wide right last season were when he actually produced some solid performances. But Benitez hardly ever played him there as Kuyt was automatic choice. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting figo-esque performances from Babel out there, but he's probably the best bet.

I think that's a bit harsh Jon.
Certainly as far as saying he's not set up many goals. Ok he's not set the world on fire but I can remember him setting up several chances for others which should have been converted but haven't been by others due to poor finishing. Also there were probably several goals where he didn't deliver the final pass but was still a vital part in the build up. His movement is better than anybody else we have who can play out wide.
To be honest, to get the best out of him you probably need to relinquish him of his defensive responsibility but playing him out wide isn't going to do that. for argentina he plays in a central three in midfield alongside mascherano who does all the defensive donkey work.
