If Pellegrini gets the job I will be absolutely gutted. It would be a sh...i...t appointment in my eyes. How can those who have absolutely slated Hodgson claim Pellegrini is anymore qualified to do the job? Talk about buying into a more glamorous foreign name.

Yep.. I have my doubts about him, although Roy isn't any better as well.

Ideal candidate for us is Kenny Dalglish

Rafa was sacked because we finished 7th and the board want to appiont a manger who finished 12th and the only thing this man has won is the manager of the year award in the last ten years.
His team won 4 away games in two seasons, he took Blackburn to the brink of relegation.
Forget the europa league run, its in the league we need to do better in and his track record says he should be swerved massively.
Its got nothing to do with nationality he just isnt good enough to take this club forward.
Would City, The mancs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs give him the job? The answer is NO !!!
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

Hodgson will not rock the boat, and would be a staedy appointment!! That said, if England go out of the world cup on wednesday then Hodgson could well take over from capello!!

I can't reiterate enough how tame the Euro Disney league was, Fulham didn't face a team in the last four rounds who finished in the top six of their respective domestic leagues :

Fulham in the Euro Disney League (Domestic League placings in brackets)

Final : Fulham (12th) vs Atletico Madrid (9th)
SF : Fulham (12th) vs Hamburg (7th)
QF : Fulham (12th) vs Wolfsburg (8th)
L16 : Fulham (12th) vs Juventus (7th)

Of course we'll be in this again next season, more fixtures and less prestige (and money) than the CL. I've been knocked for calling it the EDL, but frankly when the finalists finished 9th and 12th in their respective leagues then it is mickey mouse through and through. Wish they hadn't renamed it, like 'Consignia' they'll no doubt change it back

So instead everyone seems to be happy enough that we might sign a manager who's biggest achievements are finishing 3rd, 7th, 5th and 2nd in a decent spell with Villareal because that is all he's done. I don't really want Hodgson either but if it's a straight choice between between these two i'd take Hodgson every time. their records (in terms of honours) are pretty similar. What in Pellegrin's track record suggests he is good enough to take this club forward? i don't see it. You say it's the league we need to do better in, and that that's the most important thing as opposed to cup runs? Yet if you examine Rafa's track record PURELY from a league perspective over 5 years then to be frank, he did a lousy job.

You may or may not agree with the possibility of Hodgson being appointed but its unfair to call him a poor manager because what he achieved with Fulham was outstanding. He saved the club from certain relegation and then took them to final of the Europa Cup the next season and mid table in the Premiership. You reel of names like Juventus but these are monster football clubs compared to Fulham. Just being in Europe for that club and their fans was landmark. Clubs like Liverpool dont appoint managers like Hodgson, neither would a lot of the bigger clubs as has been pointed out but the fact is maybe they should and perhaps Liverpool are finally putting an end to this complete red herring that foreign managers are better than our own. Spurs led the way by giving Redknapp a shot and maybe, just maybe, we are going to follow suit and allow Hodgson his shot at a big time club in is homeland.

make it what you like but the word in the media is that Rafa was told.

he missed all targets set for him this year.
Taking the club in the wrong direction
shown lack of lack commitment to the club by letting his agent talk to other clubs.

anyway this is what the media think is what was talked about in the phone calls with Rafa and why he got the 6mil and not the 16mil.

when the new manager comes in  it would be nice to know what targets are set for him this year, it should be......

come in the top 4
more points than last year.
to build a team that can go onto grow in the next 2 years.
the last 6 of the FA cup.

Whether it's Pellegrini or Hodgson and I can't see anyone else now being in the frameI wonder if this might be better in the short term than Dalglish. Kenny was a legend from 85-91 but I mean he's been out of the loop in the PL since 98 supposing he takes over and doesn't turn it round. I can't imagine the fans would want to turn on him surely it would be better to have him cemented for his past successes than future failings.

Please please though not Capello. The man is a walking disaster area given what has happened to England in this world cup. It would be as stupid as Wolves hiring Graham Taylor after he left the England job.

might be giving them a heads up on who the new manager is?

I've been told last night that it is all STILL cloak and dagger but the players have been told that the future is sorted.

No one has been named as manager or owner and it's all still top secret with nothing being discussed within Anfield, no one trusts anyone there !

I would say that what he did at Fulham was only 'outstanding' in some people's OPINION. Fulham have been in the Premiership for best part of a decade, the word 'outstanding' is used far too much, in fact as much inappropriately as 'poor'
