:) Thanks - but we know that already - like I said earlier, Liverpool have not approached him or his reps and Pelligrini has been met with and deal discussed.

That's pretty much a non-article made out of nothing but a few comments based on how he feels now rather than in light of any real move or discussions. He hasn't exactly said "I am ruling myself out of the running for the Liverpool job" (more's the pity) which would fulfil his "desire to bring about an end to speculation linking him with Liverpool. "

£12m from what I have read.

It would be a good appointment just for his attacking football alone.

Hopefully his appointment will help us keep, Gerrard and Torres.

Is that on top of money from player sales? Might be enough for a rebuild although not enough to get us back in the top 4 imo.

Do we need a massive rebuild? Last three seasons our home form has been pretty much the same, within a few points of each other. But away from home we were just too cautious/negative last season, so perhaps all is needed is one or two signings and a bit of positive approach away from home.

Plus Gerrard had a disappointing season, especially in goal return, so if he stays he may return to his form or if he goes then return us some £££ to replace him

If we end up losing a few star players we will need to bring in re inforcements at the very least. We have no depth though Ozwat. We can't just assume those who were not on form last season will next season be on form. It's time to start rebuilding for the future now.

Which is why I advocate we sell off players like Mascherano, to raise maximum value for money while only losing a player who doesn't add that much to our attacking play. If we lose Torres then it should be for £50m+ and surely any decent manager can bring in a good striker or two for that kind of money. If Gerrard goes he will be hard to replace, but not impossible. And if we were to sell Reina I hope it would be an asking price of £10m+ which should buy a good replacement (£10m is a lot for a keeper) Never know, maybe Hart could be our man for £5m :D

oh and bva, I said Gerrard MAY return to form. Of course Torres may again have a relatively disappointing return so form can go either way

TORRES

07/08 : 33 goals in 46 apps (0.717 goals/app)
08/09 : 17 goals in 38 apps (0.447 goals/app)
09/10 : 22 goals in 32 apps (0.688 goals/app)

Might still have been a good return in 08/09, but he scored five more goals in six less games last season and the relative goals/app figures clearly show he had a good season in 08/09 but not nearly as good a return/ratio as 07/08 and 09/10

If we manage to keep Gerrard and Torres, and if a sizeable chunk of any Mascherano transfer fee is handed to the new manager for reinvestment then I will definitely be expecting a top four finish next season. There's no good reason that the current squad - less Mascherano but with £30m+ of possible improvements still to be made - shouldn't, at the very least, be competing to get back into the top four.

Exactly.

And of course we should have finished fourth, but for poor results which a good manager should be able to rectify without much problem. Sure we'll lose games we won, win games we drew, draw games we won etc, but there were so many dropped points that we could and should have picked up more from (overall, not necessarily all of them)

AWAY - Portsmouth (L), Blackburn (D), Wolves (D), Stoke (D), Wigan (L), Fulham (L), Sunderland (L), Hull (D), Birmingham (D)

HOME - A Villa (L), Birmingham (D), Man City (D), Fulham (D)

Shouldn't take much in the way of signings, positivity, and organisation to pick up an extra 6-15 points from that lot. In truth you could probably add 4-7 points to home form, drawing at home to brum and Fulham are disappointing/depressing results as is losing to villa.

Of course that isn't depending on improving against the top three who we picked up just one win and lost the other five games, so I reiterate that improving on last season's finish without needing to spend shedloads should be achievable for any manager coming in - who is any kop leastwise

It's a big if though and personally I think come August both will not be playing for LFC. They would have come out and said something to lile Agger if they were staying.

Ozwat what's your plan if Masch, Stevie and Torres leave and in terms of money we get maybe 30% of sales from that? Because that is probably what is going to happen.

someone on the media forums has said that all liverpool players that are in SA have been spoken to by the club in the last 3 days.

might be giving them a heads up on who the new manager is?

More like 1 last attempt to get them to stay before they inform their respective agents to look for a new club mate.

No offence to Pellegrini or whoever but the ship has sailed. No manager is going to pursuade them to stay. The only thing that will keep them here is if we get a new manager + significant funds for new players. A new manager an an empty wallet aint gonna cut it now.

Bav, if Gerrard and Torres are not playing for the Reds in 2 months time its not because they wanted to leave but they've been sold to reduce the debt.

If sold (along with Masher), I suspect the manager will get about 30% to reinvest.

We have to press the club for the reason rafa 'left'.
