Redman in wales wrote:I would prefer Pellegrini to Roy Hodgson. And tbh Pellegrini  may be the best we can get at the moment (assuming those that ruled themselves out dont come back into the frame)

BUT, just playing devils advocate: Pellegrini spent €252 Million in one season at Madrid... and still didn't win anything. (didn't even make the 1/4s in the champions league and went out in the first round of the copa-del-rey).

But he got their highest ever points total and they were competing against a great and established barcalona team.

And im not so sure he was the one that wanted all those players.  Even if he did, its a tough job to get a team of new players playing well in one season.

At Liverpool he'd have more time and control

Can't understand the enthusiasm for Pellegrini on here.

He won fu.ck all with an unlimited budget at Madrid last season (granted Perez signed those players and not the man himself - but who wouldn't have wanted the sporting director to bring in Ronaldo, Kaka, Alonso and Benzema??), so what's he going to do here with absolutely no funds to play with?

Not to mention how good his English is or isn't, or how much he actually knows about English football.  This isn't the time to fu.ck around with another foreign manager with a long term project who needs time to learn the culture and build a squad, now is the time to bring in an experienced manager with experience in this league who can bring some stability on the domestic front and get the best out of what is actually still a pretty good team.

Cue the 'but look at what he did at Villareal' responses.  So what.  La Liga isn't the Premiership, just as LFC is not Villareal.  He is a bad choice.

Every thread I open seems to have this benny the spoon guy arguing with another member. Anyways I hope this pelligrini gets the job, his teams play atractive footy and that's something we've missed for 12 months. I don't think he spent any money at rm? Didn't the president buy himself some galacticos?

If both Kaka and Benzema had been on form last season and he was allowed to sign a decent cb then i think he would of won the league . Think he is the best of the bunch of managers that we caan currently get

you do make a good point there but do you think he knows the english game....i mean the new english game,

The new english game means that any teams that play the the bigger teams have no fear and thoink they can win the game, if this is done by just sitting back and then talking the only chance in the game so be it.

its all changed last year, no team has fear anymore.

He seems to get his teams to play attacking football which is something a lot of fans criticized Rafa for not doing.  if teams sit back and we play attacking footy, we'll stuff them!

Would love to see a manager start Gerrard and Aqua in CM together and 2 strikers.  Against the smaller teams at least.

but would he only have eyes on the CL to prove a point that he should have been sacked......dont we need a manager like that right now.

if he come here with one clear aim to win the premthen that would be a different matter.

Not one manager mentioned here is better than appointing Dalglish IMO. We need to go back to our roots, rediscover the old way of playing.

old being the word. Kenny is a legend, but he's been out of the game too long.
