Yeah lets rather believe that a manager who has spent £250million to take us from 4th to 7th will magically turn things around eh.

As I have already said he was forced to sell a lot of their better players bringing in free transfers as the club was floated on the stock market.

Ferdinand was probably sold above his head, but he fell out with Ginola and then sold him for £2m, sold Beardsley, Clark, Elliot and replaced them with the likes of Pistone, Anderrson, Tomasson, Dabizas, Guivarch, Maric, and several others who combined cost a fair whack and frankly didn't cut it.

Totally agree. Daglish, however romantic idea it is, is not the way forward.

But I'm not saying don't go for Dalglish   I'd have him ahead of a fair few others out there or as a caretaker but I admit I'm not banging the drum as loudly as s@int, partly because of the length of time he's had out and the odd doubt arising from his time at Newcastle.

And he got rid of them quickly...... isn't that the usual excuse for Rafa ?

I wasn't commenting on Rafa but his possible replacement, Dalglish. His record at Newcastle wasn't as successful as the half-a-season then 2nd/lost FA cup final suggests it was. Cherrypicking it is, when we all agree the league is the best measure of a team's progress, and going from 2nd to 13th means he obviously got something wrong. Perhaps if he'd had more time he might have turned it round.

No matter how you phrase it, that is his record at Newcastle:-  one second place and one cup final in two years, while having to sell a lot of his best players to improve the balance sheet.

No matter how you phrase it, he had good money to replace those players, lost that FA cup final and finished 13th.  :D

So the man who guaranteed a top four finish has failed. Somebody needs to ask rafa to explain himself to those he guaranteed CL football to?

Seriously Benny no one really knows if Kenny still has "it" mate. He would however unite all the fans and players behind him, inspire the team and encourage players to sign for the club. Something I doubt any other manager could do. If Rafa stays there will be lots of unhappy fans, possibly players too. If Mourinho signs there will be a lot of unhappy fans. If O'Neil signs there will be a LOT of unhappy fans etc etc.

At least if we have an interim period where Dalglish takes control it will allow everyone to get back on side and concentrate on making this club successful again.

Obviously the problems with the owners is something outside our control and no one is going to be happy about that until we have new ones, but at least with Dalglish we will all be pulling in the same direction once more.

How do you know he would do what you suggest saint ? He hasn't managed for over ten years in the prem ! No matter what his record was before that it's still a major factor that outweighs anything . Also as been stated his record at Newcastle is nowhere near as good as your suggesting , taking a team that were regulary challenging at the top to 13th . It's nothing but pure romance and not a footballing reason to having kenny back as manager . I understand the sentiment but that is all it is in the end . Kennys time at top level management has been and gone a long time ago . If Rafa does go then we look forwards and look for the future and not back nearly 20 years .

K.Keegan was TOTALLY out of football for 8 years, came back and revitalised Newcastle. Kenny has kept close ties with football and especially Liverpool during the 9 years he was out of football. He has been part of the Liverpool setup for the last year and has said he will do the job if asked..... thats good enough for me. He has won enough titles and cups to prove his ability, I see no reason to doubt him.

Mate Newcastle were still :censored: :censored: even when Keegan came back. How many wins did they even pick up under him during that spell?

It's a nice idea to think that Kenny could have a posative effect on us but what if it doesn't work out? Then we waste yet another year. I really thinkwe need to try and get someone proven in the modern game.

They were almost bottom of Division one when he took over as manager. He saved them from relegation in his first season, and won them promotion as Champions in his second season. His next season they finished 3rd in the prem.

Not really sure what you are on about Bav to be honest?

Saint your still talking about well over a decade ago . Once again there is still no pure footballing reason to have kenny back .it's pure sentiment only

As I have proven someone can be out of football for a while, come back and be successful. There is certainly no pure footballing reason to presume that Dalglish can't be just as successful as he was in the past.

You seem more willing to place your faith in someone who has FAILED to win the league rather than someone who has proved he CAN win the league.
