As I have already said he was forced to sell a lot of their better players bringing in free transfers as the club was floated on the stock market.
Ferdinand was probably sold above his head, but he fell out with Ginola and then sold him for £2m, sold Beardsley, Clark, Elliot and replaced them with the likes of Pistone, Anderrson, Tomasson, Dabizas, Guivarch, Maric, and several others who combined cost a fair whack and frankly didn't cut it.
Totally agree. Daglish, however romantic idea it is, is not the way forward.

And he got rid of them quickly...... isn't that the usual excuse for Rafa ?
I wasn't commenting on Rafa but his possible replacement, Dalglish. His record at Newcastle wasn't as successful as the half-a-season then 2nd/lost FA cup final suggests it was. Cherrypicking it is, when we all agree the league is the best measure of a team's progress, and going from 2nd to 13th means he obviously got something wrong. Perhaps if he'd had more time he might have turned it round.

But I'm not saying don't go for DalglishI'd have him ahead of a fair few others out there or as a caretaker but I admit I'm not banging the drum as loudly as s@int, partly because of the length of time he's had out and the odd doubt arising from his time at Newcastle.
s@int wrote:No matter how you phrase it, that is his record at Newcastle:- one second place and one cup final in two years, while having to sell a lot of his best players to improve the balance sheet.

No matter how you phrase it, he had good money to replace those players, lost that FA cup final and finished 13th.

Kenny has kept close ties with football and especially Liverpool during the 9 years he was out of football. He has been part of the Liverpool setup for the last year and has said he will do the job if asked..... thats good enough for me. He has won enough titles and cups to prove his ability, I see no reason to doubt him.

Mate Newcastle were still![]()
even when Keegan came back. How many wins did they even pick up under him during that spell?
It's a nice idea to think that Kenny could have a posative effect on us but what if it doesn't work out? Then we waste yet another year. I really thinkwe need to try and get someone proven in the modern game.
