Liverpool vs Everton 13 March 2012, KO: 20:00

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby maypaxvobiscum » Mon Mar 12, 2012 9:50 am

Everton have a massive opportunity to climb up the table should they beat us.
While we have lost ur past 3 games, they have won 2 and drawn 1.
They don't exactly have a top goal scorer, or at least, that accolade is being shared by 5 players with 3 goals each.
Apart from Gibson, they have no injury worries.

Liverpool on the other hand are badly missing Johnson, Agger and Leiva, and will continue to do so as the trio are yet to recover.
We have a cup game against Stoke after this so hopefully the players will not be distracted or uninterested.
On paper, they have a better midfield then us so I reckon that's where the game is to be lost.
Gerrard is the best midfielder between both teams but he is accompanied by average players such as Spearing, Adam and Henderson in the middle.
I would be worried if Charlie Adam starts this game after seeing his performance some days back!
Eyes will be on Luis Suarez after his comments about PSG.

After a disappointing game at Sunderland we must improve.

Gerrard has to start and I'd like to see him just behind Suarez

I would also like to see maxi start and Henderson in the middle.

                              Reina

Kelly.              Coates.          Skrtle.              Enrique

Maxi.             Henderson.        Spearing.        Bellamy

                              Gerrard
                                             Suarez

We can not give up on 4th no matter what

3-0 Liverpool

the thing is, we don't have a problem raising our game in the big matches and i'd expect the same here. as poorly as we are playing going into these games, especially at anfield, we still beat them even if we go down to ten men in the first half as we have done on a couple of occasions in recent years.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish seeks derby day reaction
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and captain Steven Gerrard have called on the team to end their recent slump with a derby win over Everton on Tuesday.

The Reds have lost their last three league games, their worst run since 2003, and Dalglish insists everyone at the club is accountable.

He said: "Everyone needs to stand up and be counted and see what we can do."

Gerrard added: "We need a reaction and there's no better team to produce that against than Everton."

Liverpool have not tasted victory in the league since 31 January, although they did beat Cardiff on penalties to win the Carling Cup in February.

"It depends what teams you're playing, but certainly it's not a record you expect from Liverpool," said Dalglish.

"We don't want to get into the habit of losing games, but in between the losses we've had a Carling Cup victory.
"We want to continue to progress, and I think we are progressing. We've also got a stronger squad this year than we had last year, but we've got to put points on the door and that's what we want to do.

"I think in most of the games we've played, apart from a couple, we've deserved more than what we've got when we haven't got three points.

"We just need to keep believing in ourselves and keep pushing forward, but we know it's going to be difficult tomorrow."

A defeat by Everton at Anfield would see the Blues leapfrog the Reds into seventh place.

And Gerrard is calling on his team-mates to help ensure that does not happen.

"The players need to take responsibility for where we are in the league," he said.

"It's just not good enough for a club like us to be there. We have to find a better level of consistency.

"It's important the players put in a performance and get a result for the fans.

"Everyone is a bit down after recent results but we want to put a smile back on their faces."

Following the derby, Liverpool meet Stoke in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

"It's a big week and we want to go into that Cup tie with Stoke on the back of a win," said Gerrard.

I'm a little worried about this one. Evershite have been playing well the last couple of games and have managed to get results.

The whole team just need to buck up considerable.

Btw, I just feel Adam is intimidated by Gerrard, I just feel that he is asking himself, I'm I good enough to be playing along side the likes of Gerrard etc, and he commits a lot of fouls.......

Downing- has his up' and downs. Plays better against League 1 opposition.....

Henderson- still young, have seen a very very slight improvement recently.

We will win.

Can't see them losing against the bitters.

AND we can't play as bad as we did against Sunderland.

If we do lose, real questions need to be raised of the manager, players, staff and management of this great club.

Can't help feeling that with CL qualification all but gone and 2nd tier euro footy in the bag via the carling cup win we've lost some focus and maybe even desire.

Some players will no doubt have an eye on the up coming FA cup match but hopefully those that take to the field in the derby will raise their game, even if it's only for prides sake.

I'm naturally hoping for a win but given our record this season I won't be surprised if it's another frustrating draw  :(

Losing this is unthinkable really beause if Everton leap above us its an embarresment for club considering budgets.

That alone makes it a massive game as we need to save face and show we do have something to hang on to after a disastrous league campaign.

Would be humiliated if Everton went above us in the league.

Team didnt even bother showing up for the Sunderland game.  Hopefully the derby can get them motivated.
