THE DEFENCE BEGINS HERE - Cl 1st round qualifying draw 11.00 BST

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Fri Jun 24, 2005 10:28 am

So here we are, less than an hour away from the draw for the 1st qualifying round of this years Champions League. The 12 teams we could face are listed below. A trip to Ireland or Wales would probably be ideal to avoid travelling a ridiculous way.

Rabotnicki Skopje        Mac   1.484
Dinamo Minsk             Bls   1.347
Sliema Wanderers         Mlt   0.989
Pyunik Yerevan           Arm   0.989
SK Tirana                Alb   0.879
Levadia Tallinn          Est   0.824
Glentoran                Nir   0.714
Llansantffraid           Wal   0.604
F91 Dudelange            Lux   0.549
Neftchi Baku                  Azb   0.439
HB Torshavn              Far   0.329
Kairat Almaty            Kaz   0.220

The draw for the 2nd qualifying round also takes place at the same time. Basically we can face any of the teams that make it through from the first round (the 12 unseeded above, or the 11 other seeds below - they are all unseeded in QR2 except Liverpool). We could also draw another three unseeded teams who have qualified automatically for the second qualifying round.

Hajduk Split             Cro  10.981
FC Thun                  Sui   6.889
Malmö FF                 Swe   5.076
Artmedia Bratislava  *       Svk   4.849 (aka FC Petrzalka)
Anorthosis Famagusta *   Cyp   4.694
Nova Gorica *            Slo   4.189
Dinamo Tbilisi *         Geo   4.034
Haka Valkeakoski *       Fin   3.158
FH Hafnarfjardar *       Isl   2.594
Shelbourne *             Irl   2.374
Zrinjski Mostar *        Bos   2.364
Skonto Riga *            Lat   2.199
Sheriff Tiraspol *       Mol   2.089
FBK Kaunas *             Lit   1.759

Bring it on.  :alien:

p.s. please use THIS THREAD for all build up and reaction to the draw.

Here we go in our defence of the European Cup and for the reasons of travel, time etc......it would be ideal to draw the Welsh or Glentoran.

After your poor performance predicting the Prem first day fixtures St Michael i see you haven't risked predicting who we might get :D

The reason i want TNS is cos a mate of mine plays for them and it would be amazing to watch one of me mates against the team i love at hopefully, the millenium stadium providing uefa let them move it there.....I reckon we would fill it!!!

But a trip to Kazakhstan looks certain.

If we get a East european team, lets hope a home game first and hopefully put the result beyond doubt so we can rest some of big names from the travelling

Prefer the welsh team myself though
