Mikel: Olla Pepe! So how's life treating you? You like Liverpool?
Pepe: Olla Mikel! Life is good. I have great Manager, good team, nice wages and I get to play at Anfield for the European Champions. How are you?
Mikel: er... anyway, you know that the, er, how the Scouser say "The Blue Feculant" are playing your old club en Espagne for the Euro matches?
Pepe: si.
Mikel: Well, could you give your Old Hombre, Mikel a few tips. I hear that they are most dangerous in attack with Forlan and Riquelme, and also solid at the back. Is this true?
Pepe: si, this is for sure. But there is one key to defeating them. They cannot handle playing against four strikers. I suggest you play a 2-4-4 formation to confuse them.
Mikel: Confuse them?
Pepe: Si senior! It cannot fail. They will never be expecting this tactic. The weapon of surprise, and don't worry about Forlan, I'm sure that it is just fluke.
Mikel: Gracias mi Hombre. Muchos, muchos gracias! This will surely help us.
Pepe: Mi compadre! Wait, this cannot be seen to be coming from me. It would hurt my team if you were to qualify.
Mikel: Your secret, it is safe.
Pepe: Adios
Mikel: Adios mi Amigo!

As Mikel walks away, he produces a tape recorder and clicks the stop button while he grins to himself, and to the ugly, scottish waiter who is taking off his fake moustache as he heads for the door.

Back at the table, Pepe pours himself another glass of Champagne, leans back, takes a sip and turns to the table behind him. Rafa Benitez, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher all remove their fake moustaches and grin.
Pepe: My friends, this should be most entertaining...
:D

I love my imagination. A world of plot holes and fake moustaches where our players all have a sort of James Bond-esque air about them. If only. :)

I have a much simpler version where Pepe basically tells Arteta to get :censored:, but hey that works as well.  :D

Yeah   :D  thanks for asking .

BTW how do you equate "we can't take them lightly " with "but I'm very confident we will beat them fairly EASILY "

I think that it could be potentially tough at their place, although if the cards fall right for us we are good enough to get at least a draw over there.

We are certainly good enough to beat them at home.

I expect something like a 3-1 or 4-1 win for us on aggregate.

Yeah ,i'd go along with that JBG. So much depends on the home leg which i would expect us to win . The away leg bothers me, I seem to recall that our games against decent sides in eastern europe were never a forgone conclusion.

I'll always remember when Macca lifted Big Ears at Real Madrid, Big Ron said "you won't see that again, now a scouser's got his hands on it". A couple of years later and another bunch of Scousers have taken it back to Anfield, where it's staying put. Brilliant.   :D

the funniest bit of commentary i ever heard was by clive tyldsely. it was the everton-arsenal match when rooney scored his first goal. just after scoring, he tried an audacious chip which landed on the roof of the net.

"that's the first time i've seen someone try to lob seaman twice in two minutes".

:oh:  :D  :oh:

If you look at the list of the draw you'll see "Liverpool v Tirana/Sofia" so I'm assuming that we play at home first. I think thats how it's going to work out.

Like for instance when the draw was made between us and Juventus it came out "Liverpool v Juventus", so we played at home first. I'm sure you know that but I don't know how to explain it clearly :D
