The only tears I would shed if Rafa went would be for what could have been...

I am probably being very very naive but I just get the feeling part of Mourhino sees that Liverpool are a magical and special club and he would take the job regardless of funds available. Its hard to imagine that in the modern game, but I dunno, I think this guys a bit different and part of attraction would be taking on the ultimate challenge and we are certainly that. If I have this fella all wrong then he will end up at City, and I take back any fanciful thoughts there is any heart or imagination left in the game at the very top level.

I just cannot see Mourinho going to a club with no money, if he did come to us then maybe we have more money than people are letting on!!

I don't know if i'm posting in the right topic,

but I believe that the only way to raise enough funds to temp Mourinho will be to sell Torres, all being

well if he has a blinding world cup (which i predict he will have), we can demand anything upto £100M
for the lad.

I know we always say, "no player is bigger than the club", but if that player is worth £100M you have to question that in our present financial state.

With £100M to spend (assuming the owners don't pocket it) plus funds raised from selling our expensive deadwood, I could see Jose having a good shout at bringing us the title.

Is that such a mad plan?

Mate as mad plans go, it's the undisputed World Champion. Firstly if we sold Torres we'd have to spend a huge chunk of the fee in order to get someone else even half as good, and secondly the money wouldn't see the light of day as it'd be trousered before you could say "David N'Gog, your time has come".

A much better plan is to sell off Aquilani for whatever someone will give us, along with Skrtel, Lucas etc. Use the cash to pay off Benitez and the coaches, kit men, bus drivers, dieticians, chiropidists and all the other hangers on, and get a decent manager. We should get a manager in who can tempt quality players in who are available on frees, and can also make shrewd purchases. I did notice that Joe Coles contract negotiations have broken down, and he'll be available on a free. Perhaps we should find ourselves a manager who players like Joe Cole would be excited to work with. Managers that sign people like Wesley Snijder when they need a good midfield player, strikers like Samuel Eto. Now there's a plan.

It's utterly ridiculous plan. It would never work out. Say we sell him for 100Mil all other teams are going to know we have 100Mil burning a hole in our pocket so will inflate their prices just to screw us and get more. And anyway even if we did sell him for that much how much of it would even be made available for the manager? Besides that what does that say of our ambition if we sell Torres?

I'll say it again it's a stupid plan. Crazy talk

To say its utterly ridiculous is a bit strong imo

what's the point of having ambition if you have'nt got money or Arsene Wenger.

Im sure Tranmere Rovers have got ambition, but where are they?

We need CA$H

we need it to rebuild this shambolic shower that our manager has assembled.

If that means selling our spectacular spanish china doll,  then so be it.

I am hearing stuff about Rafa going to Juve... what if Juve pays those 20 mil we'd have to give him if we sack him?
